Tryst

Written By: Karen Kay

Tryst

On this diamond day
A violet, crimson, silver sky
What a diamond day!
A violet, crimson, silver sky
When I said 'yes you can'
When I said 'yes I will'
I found much more than serenity.

Here is the twist
Beneath the feet, the poles will shift
Pure poetry
It's a tryst.

Grandmothers, wall flowers, sourpusses
Casanovas, Mata Haris, Romeos and Juliets
Looking for signs and wonders.
Tired of feeling tragic, bored with being bland
No more guilty pleasures
No more of half measures
just to taste one moment, sublime.

Here is the twist
Beneath the feet, the poles will shift
It's pure poetry
It's a tryst.

Hamadryads, unicorns, flying pigs
Even bats and mice
The King of Fire and his steed
Heavens above
We need to find our muse
Our music of the spheres
A spark, a lightning flash, a laugh
Our own ground-breaking news.

Here is the lemon twist
Beneath the feet, the poles will shift
Pure poetry
It's a tryst.

Sandman

Written By: Karen Kay

Mr. Moon has come a'calling
in his violet dressing gown
a fox is in the undergrowth
laying the scent home
laying the scent home

fill your eyes with wild things
sandman takes you where he will
pack a little travelling bag
Train tracks lead home
Train tracks lead home

catch a lyric while you're gone
the hero slays the dreadful beast
sandman he will bring you home
when the dawn breaks from the East

Mr. Moon has come a'calling
in his violet dressing gown
a fox is in the undergrowth
laying the scent home
laying the scent home

the tinker, the tailor
the beggar and the mouse
are all tucked up in their
gingerbread house

a splash of truth, a pack of lies
and just a pinch of fool's gold
all tied up with bits of string into a bow
one hundred costume changes in a little travelling bag
left unattended beside the door

if there is no hero
then who will slay the beast?
and who will bring you home?
Sandman he can't bring you home
when the dawn breaks from the East

I have put my mark upon the map
I found the missing breadcrumb track
It always lead to this place
and sandman takes you where he will
he blows the sadness from your face

Mr. Moon has come a calling
in his violet dressing gown
a fox is in the undergrowth
the tinker, the tailor, the beggar and the mouse
are all tucked up in their gingerbread house
