This group of musicians, fronted by powerhouse vocalist Karen Lizotte, is a hard working and dedicated band that is well established in the Blues scene in Halifax with great tunes, smooth jazzy stylings, and ninja-like reflexes. In the past year Karen has played shows all around the east coast. The band has just finished recording an EP of 5 of Karen's original tunes, which channel Karen's many female blues favourites. The covers Karen chooses for her shows include tunes by Blues women such as Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Sharon Jones, Bonnie Raitt, and Susan Tedeschi, and a sprinkling of some Blues men - B.B King, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, and Colin James.

Some comments from fans:

Karen Lizotte's explosive vocals, fueled by a band that was on fire, moved through volatile arrangements flowing like molten lava. Hot! Hot! Hot!

These young musicians are in total communication with each other and make their music a language they speak fluently and share with warmth and excitement, captivating the audience and engaging them in what becomes a nuclear experience. I'll tell you~ Nova Scotia has talent!!

I fell in love last night - loved your sound, loved your stage presence. Can't wait for the CD launch! :-) Thanks for a great show!

It Takes More Than That

Written By: Karen Lizotte

Well you wanna be a preacher just because you like to talk
You wanna be a teacher just because you like the chalk
Well if you think you're my man you gotta know one thing
You can't play in my playground just because you like to swing

It takes more than that
It takes more than that
You want the easy part for yourself
And leave the rest for somebody else
But baby it takes more than that

Well you wanna be a doctor just because you like the coat
But any pill from you just gets caught in my throat
You like looking the part
You think you’re real slick
You’re tryin’ to make me feel so good but baby
You’re just making me sick

It takes more than that
It takes more than that
You want the all the credit
But you don’t wanna sweat it
Honey it takes more than that

Now you're buying diamond rings ‘cause you like spending money
Sweet talkin' to me because you want my honey
The way you're acting, babe, I think it's a sin
You keep howlin at my door but I just - I just won't let you in oh yeah

Woah it takes more than that
It takes more than that
It takes more than that
It takes more than that
It takes more than that
It takes more than that
It isn’t enough to crave or covet
You can't like it you gotta love it
Baby it takes more than that

Hot Gossip

Written By: Karen Lizotte

Jimmy told Johnny now that's a fact
Johnny snuck up to Sally and played it back
Sally whistled up to Sam and Ted
She said, ?Boys, I got somethin's gonna make you drop dead

C1.Gonna make steam come outta your ears
Ain't heard nothin like it in a hundred years
Shouldn't be repeating but you just can't stop
Can't, can't get enough
Can't get enough of that
Hot gossip hot gossip
If you can feel a buzzin movin through the room
You know some hot gossip is coming soon

Once you hear it there ain't no resistin'
You just gotta tell anybody who'll listen
The taste of hot gossip on your tongue
Is like the sweetest song ever been sung

Gonna make steam come outta your ears
Ain't heard nothin like it in a hundred years
Shouldn't be repeating but you just can't stop
I can't, can't get enough
Can't get enough of that
Hot gossip hot hot gossip
If you can feel a buzzin movin through the room
Then you know some hot gossip is coming soon

A little he-said-she-said never hurt noone
Just whisper in my ear let's have some fun
All some hot gossip needs is a smoking gun

Gonna make steam come outta your head
Gossip this good'll make your heart stop dead
Shouldn't be repeating but you just can't stop
I can't, can't get enough
Can't get enough of that
Hot gossip hot hot gossip
If you can feel a buzzin movin through the room
Then you know some hot gossip is coming soon

Don't Wanna Be Alone

Written By: Karen Lizotte

The circles on this floor
I don't wanna walk them no more
You got my mind spinning - Left me wondering
if you're gonna knock - on my door
Cause since you left this morning
I can’t stand being all alone

Clock on the wall
The more it goes round the harder I fall
I’m falling for you
What if I never hear that knock on my door
Please come back and let me love you
Don’t leave me all alone

Sip some wine, hum a tune
It's gettin late and I'm full as the moon
I hear a knock
Come on in and love me like you did before
All I wanna do is love you
Let’s stop being all alone
Don't Wanna Be Alone

Oh Mama

Written By: Karen Lizotte

Oh Mama
Tie that scarf on tight
And rock your baby ‘til it feels alright
Since Daddy's been gone it sure gets cold at night

Oh Mama
Put your red shoes on
Let's go where the music plays all night long
Ain't done this much dancin' since Daddy's been gone

Oh Mama Oh Mama Oh Mama
Listen to that blues man playing your song:

>

Oh Mama
Let your hair hang down
And forget about that man not bein' around
Better look out Mama’s gonna paint the town

Oh Mama Oh Mama Oh Mama
Since Daddy’s been gone Mama’s feet don’t touch the ground
