Bio

On the vocal cusp of Norah Jones, Natalie Merchant, and Tracy Chapman, this sweet-meets-sultry voice offers a smooth familiarity while sounding fresh.

Karen Naomi's debut album, Blind, was released in 2005; a pop-influenced acoustic based EP of six songs containing hints of jazz, blues, and folk. Although Karen is one of those rare female artists who can boldly take the stage as a solo act, the album featured guitarist and solo artist Jamie Schultz, bassist Keith Bryant, and jazz musician/drum phenomenon Jaelun Washington.

In her hometown of Dallas, TX, Karen was once chosen as Quick DFW's Band of the Week and regularly played at celebrated venues such as Club Dada and Opening Bell. She moved to Austin, TX during the spring of 2007 and had a TV appearance on a special SXSW edition of HDNet's True Music w/Katie Daryl. Karen is expected to return to the studio and begin working on her follow-up full length album in 2008.

Should you catch a live show, be prepared for layered live acoustic guitar sampling reminiscent of Howie Day, along with an outpour of candid, introspective lyrics topped off with soothing, soulful vocals.
