Bio
KARI formed in Jan 2013 when Kari Amirian
collaborated with Jon Headley, Chris Headley,
John Pullan and Callum Harvie.
By being in the right place at the right time the guys
crossed each others paths and created their album
“Wounds And Bruises”, which was successfully
released in Dec 2013. Since then Kari had been
touring the album around Europe.
Described as “an outstanding composer and
performer, with bags of talent”, Kari is a singersongwriter
and music producer, currently based
in Leeds / UK where she produced her latest project
“Wounds And Bruises”. Kari is a classically educated
musician, with a unique contemporary style. Along
with her band she delivers an original combination
of strong indie-pop vocal melodies, tribal-sounding
drums and experimental, electronic soundscapes.
Her songs have already been broadcast on BBC
Radio 1 and BBC Radio Leeds by Alan Raw,
who also said “her music transcends boundaries
and crosses genres. Surely she is destined for
international success.” On March 10th, 2014 track
called “The One” was placed on BBC Radio 1 playlist
as a part of BBC Introducing series. Consequently,
KARI was invited to perform at the BBC RADIO 1’s
BIG WEEKEND on May 24th, 2014. The band played
at the BBC Introducing stage and were well received.
There are new gigs coming soon as well.
WOUNDS AND BRUISES is an album of stark,
vivid contrasts: between the realm of spirit and
reality, between the powerful and the vulnerable,
between the rhythmic and the melodic & between
the brave and the quiet. Original and clever lyrics
compliment the music perfectly, adding an even
deeper spiritual dimension to the album.
Kari’s strong vocal tones are mixed with a wide array
of sounds, from alt-pop to electro and 80’s sounding
adventures.
