Bio
Born in Harmar, Norway, Kari Kleiv spent much of her childhood moving from continent to continent with her film-making parents. Her songwriting is as varied as the cities in which she grew up an eclectic mix of blues, folk and rock. For one so young, her songs are written with subjects of life close to her heart; ranging from family life and calling time on relationships, to homelessness and unconditional love.
In her lyrics she questions much of todays society with an ease which defies her 21 years of age and each song are as much naïve and idealistic as they are passionate.
Her recent performances at Londons Troubadour and the Cobden Club as well as her hour-long showcase at Bush Hall have captured audiences from the moment she takes to the stage, her vocal talent leaving audiences at a loss as to how to describe what they have witnessed. However to see her perform is the only way to understand her. A raw talent indeed, crazy and beautiful almost certainly; a girl on a mission, without doubt. Only witnessing her play can you begin to understand her and even then to describe her well well leave that to you .
