Karima Nayt

Karima Nayt is a born artist from Algeria blessed by the stars of song and dance. Rewarded by the National Conservatory of Algiers, she devoted herself with passion to contemporary dance, a great way to express all of her deep feelings. At the same time she had the chance to show her talents as a comedian under the direction of Fouzia Ait El Hadj. Whereas in 1997 Ali Tenkhy offered her a role in his movie « Le papillon ne volera plus ».

Attracted by the cultural life that was boiling in Cairo she decided to move there in 1998 where she met two great artists who became her allies:Walid Aouni, choreographer of the dance company of the Cairo Opera where she later became a soloist dancer. Grammy-awarded musician and composer Fathy Salama who asked her to be part of his group « Sharkiat ».
Two years later she recorded her first single « Jerusalem » and in 2004 she signed her first maxi with the label « Les disques sérieux » in Paris. Since then she has toured in many countrys with Fathy and they have composed many songs together.
As polyglot she performs in Arabic, French, English and even in Berber to wink at her Kabyle roots, all this she uses when she writes the lyrics for her first album wich will be recorded in 2009 and released in spring 2010.

Karima has performed on festivals and stages all over the world both as a singer and a dancer, sometimes as a guest artist with groups as « Saboon » (ex Soapkills)(Lebanon/France), « Oriental Mood » (Denmark), « Eugegnio Bennato » (Italy) etc..
She has been a favorite artist of several choreographers as Karine Saporta (France), Lena Josefsson (Sweden) and Mohamed Shafik (Egypt) with who she won numerous prizes including the Grand Prize of best actress at the 16th International Festival of Experimental Theatre in Cairo for the performance « On the table listening to Wagner ».
