Bio
Formally trained at the Conservatory Of Music of P.R., Karishma
earned her Interamerican University bachelor in Jazz Music. In addition, she
studied extensively at the Bellas Artes School of Acting for film and television.
Some of her performances include debuting at the opera “Die
Fledermaus” (Mozart) in Bellas Artes of P.R. accompanied by the P.R. Symphony
Orchestra, at the Earth Day Multicultural Concerts in Bellas Artes, at the 7th
International Culture Fest, at the Laurent-Perrier Curvee Rose Champagne High Fashion
Show presentation with the P.R. Symphony Orchestra performing the “Konigin Der
Natch” Arias, in the Christmas Concert Un Sueno de Navidad at the Centro de
Bellas Artes with the P.R. Symphony Orchestra, and at Spring Fall for the Gucci
collection of Guissepe Verdi performing the “Traviatta” Arias “sempre libera”.
In addition, she debuted at the Country Club for the P.R. Metropolitan Opera
council winners, had a role in “Lakme” Leo Delibes performing “The Bell Song - Ou
va la jeune Hindoue”, and showcased as the voice of the “AQUA” international
circus (the most successful long running showcase in P.R. and Dominican
Republic).
As a world music vocalist, she recorded for the Nominee
Awarded Latin Jazz Percussionist Paoli Mejias on his second album titled
“TRANCEND”, vocally merging Arabic and south Indian “Karnatic” scales.
As a composer, Karishma recorded her own world music album titled
“Karishma and Enrique Cardenas – Voces, Cuerdas, y Guitarras”.
Karishma has shared the stage with many professional
renowned artists and musicians, among them the Boston Music Award winning
artist Mamadou Diop, Enrique Cardenas, Grammy-nominated trombonist William
Cepeda (a protégé of Dizzy Gillespie), saxophonist Marco Pignataro, and Berklee
Managing Director and ACE awarded dancer Paulette Beauchamp (the Director of
Danzactiva Co.).
She is a winner of the F.A.M.A. grants from the Operetta y
Zarzuela and the Jovenes Amigos Foundation at the P.R. Metropolitan Opera
council auditions. She also has a spectrum of talents that have led to
invitations to participate in radio jingles, television commercials, as a catwalk
model, as a CBS news reporter, a voice teacher, and a music event coordinator.
