The best kept secret in music
Press
kaskadia, from Port Angeles, started the night off with some ruthlessly loud garage rock (The good kind.) The band combines fast beats, heavy riffs, and some great vocals to produce a sound that kicks you in the face. When music is good, it's almost like sex and I needed a smoke. - Disheveled Mag
NEO-GRUNGE] The Port Angeles, Wash., trio Kaskadia sounds more like the grunge at the bottom of a sink full of dishwater than the sky-blue waters of the Cascade Mountains. Its dynamic shifts from murky, moaning verses to eruptive choruses heavily reminiscent of the Wipers and Nirvanaparticularly the vocalist's ravaged-throat screams. Kaskadia's self-titled debut EP doesn't necessarily seem derivative, although it hints at the effects-drenched, waterlogged sounds of Alice in Chains and similar Pacific Northwest '90s favorites. Bio
Kaskadia was born in the summer of 1990 by bastard lovechildren and odd couple Dwayne Scott (drums) and Cameron Clearwater (guitar and vocals). Kaskadia draws heavily from its dank mossy roots in thee Great Pacific Northwest, yet has no regional bounds. When looking for inspiration, weather it be the punk rock riffs of their forefathers from the Dirty North, like Mudhoney and Nirvana, to current heavies like High on Fire and Unsane, or from the East Coast beats of LCD Sound System to the pristine Brit-Pop of Oasis, Kaskadia knows only one way through the jungle, and that is the righteous path of unadulterated Rock and/or Roll.
In 2004 the addition of local weirdo ( and former employer) Matt Crowell (bass) helped form the most unassuming group of misfits since, well..........The Misfits.
Backed by vinyl aficionados fLOTATION records, Kaskadia released their self titled
EP in 05 followed by the Drunk Dialer/Sunshine Girl 7", engineered by Conrad Uno released in early 06 as well as Another EP, titled Cinco, coming soon.
Live this band has been described as unpredictable. Sometimes somber, sometimes electrified, sometimes barely able to stand up! Kaskadia is proud to have shared the stage with kindred local rock outfits (and in many cases label mates) like the Dwarves, The Ruby Doe, Fitz of Depression, S2C, Kandi Coded, Bacchus, The Supersuckers, Mos Generator, The Valley, Swallow, The Press Corps, Black Elk, and many other great local, national, and international bands. Plus we’re all super cute
