Bio

Serenity In Fire, the seventh studio album by KATAKLYSM, arises cranked up with superlatives! Not only does it bring you ten absolutely striking songs filled with violence and enthralling hooks, while highlighting new drummer Martin Maurais who dominates his instrument giving "speed" and "timing" a whole new meaning. But if you listen carefully HYPOCRISY's Peter Tägtgren appears as an additional vocalist on the track “For All Our Sins” and together with the visions of Maurizio Iacono makes it an amazing crusher of a song. The speedy “As I Slither” shares the same quality and has already been considered as the highlight of KATAKLYSM's live shows. Serenity In Fire will hunt you down and blow an abyss in what you thought Death Metal meant. So watch out and make sure all breakable valuables are put away before you press play!

The Canadian Hyperblasters formed in 1991 and shortly after recorded a demo, Death Gate Cycle Of Reincarnation, which obtained worldwide recognition and ultimately led to a record deal with Nuclear Blast in 1993. The complete demo plus a bonus track, “The Orb Of Uncreation” became KATAKLYSM's first official release in the form of the MCD titled The Mystical Gate Of Reicarnation. The extreme high speed Death Metal with its very identifiable quality laid the foundation for a new style of metal, The Northern Hyperblast.

In 1995 KATAKLYSM presented their very first full-length album, Sorcery, which stood tall to the previous release with pure, fast and brutal metal. Temple Of Knowledge, the next release, topped Sorcery in terms of destructiveness and wrecking energy and proved to be a true archetype that bestowed the band with compliments from euphoric critics and several well-visited tours. On the following albums, Victims Of This Fallen World and The Prophecy, KATAKLYSM started to experiment with new possibilities in sound and arrangements, leading the critics to name The Prophecy one of the most devastating releases in extreme music in years. Many began to wonder if the band could ever top this powerful release. Indeed they did with Epic (The Poetry Of War), Canada's finest metal team created a classic, backed with a melodic edge and propelled by extreme roaring power, making KATAKLYSM a force to be reckoned with.

TV appearances and headlining tours pervaded the band's life thence forward and took them to more than 19 countries around the world. Shadows & Dust released in 2002 continued KATAKLYSM's success with nine immense ass-kicking tracksthe Canadian magazine BW&BK described as "a pure holocaust of events as all the planets appear to have lined up for this scar on humanity" and voted it among the best 25 records of the year!

It will not be surprising if KATAKLYSM again hits several lists with Serenity In Fire, for it is the strongest evidence that the Death Metal freaks from Canada have found the recipe for success. This seventh album in KATAKLYSM’s series has raised the bar with extreme high quality guitar metal without fillers, something only KATAKLYSM can manage. This is Northern Hyperblast at terminal velocity!
