"Kate Elliott at the Camelia Lounge"

"As soon as she got on the stage.. the delicacy and subtlety of her songs bewitched the crowd into rapt silence. Imagine if Mazzy Star had Joan Baez on vocals, or if Jeff Buckley was a joyful girl. Catch her before the crowds get too big." --The Red Light , Portland, OR - The Red Light

Bio

"That's what music's about, right? Trying to evoke an echo, an experience that creates an emotional connection with the person listening." -Kate Elliott

Kate's first memory of writing music occurred at 5 years of age while laying in pile of toys trying to avoid picking them up like she was supposed to. The song was about the toys. An obvious hit with the five and under set. Sadly, they were not a big target audience for the music of the time. Still, a life long love affair was born. She explored the world of choral music, musicals and a failed but valorous attempt to start an all girl punk rock band at the age of 11. As a teenager she found herself writing angsty songs of disillusionment and unrequited love. At the age of 14 she left home in search of better stories. She has been writing, playing guitar, and performing in her current incarnation for the last 2 years. Kate Elliott has performed extensively in the NW and SE United States as well as in such various locations worldwide as Canada, Prague, Italy, and Guatemala. Her first studio album, Check Out Time, incorporated elements from folk, blues, rock, zydeco, and indie music.
