Winning 'Best Female Vocal' twice from the Qld Recording Assoc 'Sunnie Awards' for consecutive albums led to some extended airplay of songs ''Fire or Ice" and 'My Girlfriends Letter' (From the 'My Real Job' album and 'Mermaids' & 'The Lantern' from the album 'Kosmickate & The KGB'. I then took some time to write an album about the history of Percy Island (sailors of east coast Oz will know) www.percyisland.com I liked the idea of an all age adventure album, teaching history with music. Working towards getting this and the game associated with it 'HERMIT' into Australian schools, just to make the day a little easier...Current streaming tracks are 'The Road' on mvradio.com (local cafe artists) and 'Dream Genie', soon to be promoted for the first Rockermom compilation CD, both songs are previews from my imminent release 'The Messenger's Apprentice' Album

I am now officially a chosen 'ROCKERMOM' see www.rockermomsacd.com and playlisted on www.mvyradio.com and ABC... These little marks of recognition mean a lot to a dedicated songwriter! I was lucky to be a 3rd generation musician...I started out singing weekends at school. I left Uni after a year to persue music full time. I knew I wanted to be a SONGWRITER at 18, I'd been recording my own songs since I was 15. I have my own studio, therefore creative control, which took me years to achieve. I LOVE having this!
I have diverse tastes in music as a songwriter,and
'The Messenger's Apprentice' album which we launched with a live simulcast on Noosa Community Radio, Easter 2007, is the fourth album I have written & produced. It is a soundtrack for a rock opera I have written, encompassing many styles, though we'd sit pretty comfortably in a Jazz club. I am working towards seeing it as a feature movie production.
The story is a sci-fi, comedy, tragedy adventure of how the world was saved when teetering on the brink of destruction, by a humble songwriter who became the messenger for the 'Others' of neighbouring galaxies. 'Kady' (my alter ego) wins over the hearts and minds of the world with songs like 'Dream Genie','The whole world is drowning' and 'The Road'.I knew 'The Road' was cool the minute I wrote it, sometimes you just have a feeling... Wonderful musicians who I am proud to call my friends, tapped in, and we made a little bit of magic.
I hope that in a couple of years, High Schools might have this as a performance option alongside
'Rocky Horror', 'Grease' and 'The Importance of being Earnest'.The message is for us all to value 'The Invisible'...love ,truth, trust, generosity etc...not just money.
I have had some steady radio here in oz, enuf to demonstrate that this sound has some appeal.
I recovered from a severe voice injury in 2000, due to 'bad doctoring' (its a long story with a happy endind..in that I unexpectedly got my voice back..after 5 months of whispering and a diagnosis of permanent voice loss)
This extraordinary experience woke me up a little and brought out the writer in me...strange that as I endured this unimaginable loss of voice, my song 'mermaids' (which examined a parallel of relationship to The Little Mermaid Fairy Tale, where the Little Mermaid sacrificed her voice for the love of a Prince who rejected her...) played for years on rotation, without me being able to even launch the album...a tad bizarre eh?
I now have 4 finished well produced albums that are essentially unheard to a greater audience.
My gorgeous offspring (I have 3) are almost independent, so soon I can devote more time to my music. Touring is now a possibility it never was..
It's a sophisocated sound, ..with a slight jazz influence tho years of gigging has streamlined it into very easy-listening with hooks to burn. Very memorable tunes in a unique style with a warm delivery...Bands I admire? Sting, Sara Mclachlan, Seal...
