BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

It's like a cake. Mix a little heartache, a dash of hope, and a sprinkle of attitude, and out of the oven comes a Kate Hearne song. Delivering her lyrics with sincerity, Kate is an act not to be missed. With shining star-like stage presence, and mean guitar chops, Kate Hearne is the real deal.

Biography

Kate Hearne is a 22-year-old performing songwriter who also happens to be an ace lead guitarist. The Winnsboro, Texas, high school 2009 early graduate picked up the guitar during spring break of her 8th grade year, and hasn't put it down since.

The daughter of performing songwriter Lindy Hearne (cofounder of Crossroads Coffeehouse, a weekly live music venue in Winnsboro), Kate Hearne grew up surrounded by songwriters and guitars. In her younger years though, she refused to have anything to do with music making. Then one day when no one was looking or listening she made the fateful choice, picked up a guitar, and discovered a new way to express herself.

With the added guidance of famed guitar instructor John DeFoore of Mineola, Texas (a la Michelle Shocked, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Adam Carroll to namedrop a few former students), Kate takes her songwriting and guitar studies seriously. She's making a name for herself as a professional lead guitarist. As a solo artist, Kate Hearne has opened for Adler & Hearne, The Dreamsicles, Denice Franke, Terri Hendrix, Malcolm Holcombe, Kacey Musgraves and Pauline Reese. Kate was one of 12 semi-finalists in the 20th Annual B.W. Stevenson Memorial Singer Songwriting competition (April 2008), which is hosted at Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas.

Kate is currently attending South Plains College on a guitar scholarship studying Commercial Music.

Lyrics

You

Written By: Kate Hearne

V1
My heart is broke and I got no shoes
The soles are worn and soaked in booze
I can taste the dirt in my teeth
I’m just a bottle away from feeling free
Just a bottle away from feeling free

CHORUS
It’s you
It’s you
It’s you

V2
It’s the tip of the iceberg, the end of the road
I got no light, and no place to go
I walk these streets in search of right
It’s always the same at the end of the night
It’s always the same at the end of the night

CHORUS

V3
One day when you see my face
I promise you ain’t gonna recognize this grace
See I used to be all slouched and torn
But no way will I be like that anymore
No I ain’t gonna be like that anymore

It’s you
It’s you
It’s you I can’t take no more
I ain’t gonna take no more

Easy

Written By: Kate Hearne

V1
Drink up baby girl
Your sorrows fill the cup
They’ll be gone for the night but just know in the light
They come back to haunt
but drink up baby girl

V2
Go ahead and hide
Your fear is yours to show
I see it on your face, you think you’re disgrace
Like a broken damn
So go ahead and hide

CHORUS
it’s easy
it’s easy
to give your problems away
in the night or the day
I wish it was
easy

V3
Dismiss your strength
You think you’re weaker than most
Just look at your faith, at what you once chased
What you held before
But you still dismiss your strength

CHORUS
