"Press Quotes"

**Rolling Stone Magazine, Indie Showcase
“Who will be the first to discover the real heroine of Rock ‘N Roll?… The best unsigned band in the world… hottest female vocalist on the scene… who’s revolutionized her electric violin the way Jimi Hendrix did to guitar.”

**The Bangkok Post, Thailand - Friday, 30 September 2005
"Big Brother and the Holding Company, better known as the band that launched Janis Joplin to psychedelic superstardom in the mid 60s. Long time favourites of the San Francisco ballroom scene, their current lineup features... the outstanding Kate Russo on electric violin... it was the [electric violin's]screeching, sometimes distorted --- purposely, of course --- Combination of the Two that was the highlight of the show. "

**Tulsa World, OK
“the showstopper of the night was Russo. A fiddler with an exciting, unorthodox style that apes a blues-rock lead guitar, only with a little more vibrato, she brought the house down twice – once with a wild rendition of Sonny Boy Williamson’s “the Sky Is Cryin” and the second time with “Me and Bobby McGee.” Her voice on both was truly Joplinesque, and her young-hippie stage presence contrasted nicely with the rest of the band.”

**Hartford Advocate, Local Motion, CT
“anyone seeing or hearing the band must agree, the stand-out here is Kate Russo. Russo plays violin, sax, keyboards and sings, flowing from one to the next… Is there nothing this woman can’t do? I’d have to say, I doubt it… So it’s not a matter of “if?” this band will be singed but “when”… Catch ‘em while you can.”

**Next Of Kin, Boston, MA
“This band… has been called ‘the greatest unsigned band in the world.’... Singer/violinist Kate Russo makes it scream… and sing like an angel. Don’t miss your chance to see this critic’s favorite..." - Various

Bio

LOOKING FOR RINGO....
2005's release "Home Cookin-Delicious Demos" displays the talented artist on vocals, rock violin, guitar, keyboards and drums along with partner Blake Thompson for catchy, hook-laden songs tinged with blues, rock, pop, punk and even classical influences, featuring soaring melodies, tight harmonies and heartfelt sincerity that shines in every song Kate Russo sings. Vocals have been compared to Janis Joplin, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette and Pat Benatar (with enthusiastic reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine, The New York Post and others) and are combined with songwriting influences of The Beatles, modern rock with a retro feel to create a sound that is both familiar and distinctive.
As a singer/songwriter who plays piano and guitar, Kate also features a unique lead instrument -- electric rock violin -- influenced by guitar heroes Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix. The recipient of a NEA grant and an alumnus of New England Conservatory of Music, she has toured the US,Europe and Asia in performances alongside Rick Danko and The Band, Gavin DeGraw, The Gin Blossoms, Van Morrison and more, including an appearance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.”
Also currently touring as lead violinist (instead of psychadelic blues rock lead guitar) with Janis Joplin’s original band Big Brother & the Holding Company, Kate has previously toured with Bit O' Jane and The Elliots, and performed w/Sugar Ray, David Crosby, Little Feat, Cake and others. A new solo album "Looking For Ringo" (with Prairie Prince of The Tubes on drums) is due for release is Feb. of 2006, and shows this artist has a sound all her own.
