Saturday I took the red eye to Seattle
Set down on the tarmac in the rain
And when I saw you getting’ off the plane
I was struck down by the good old days
As you rushed over to me
Time turned back remembering, and

Suddenly I was sixteen I was
Cheering for the high school team
Hanging out on a Friday night
There was you there was me
It was always right
I forgot I was missing you

Talking two at a time between connections
Reaching back to the day where we left go
So tell me we were so strong it’s been so long
Where have all those crazy summers gone
Seeing you makes me realize
This won’t be our last good-bye

Suddenly I was eighteen, it was
Parties, cars and graduating
At the lake on a Friday night
There was me there was you
It was always right, I forgot
I was missing you

Our flights came and we flew away
In a rented rag top headed for LA

Suddenly we’re still sixteen
Playing hookey from the corporate thing
Cruising the coast on a Friday night
There was you there was me
It was just so right
I forgot I was missing you.

I Found Everything

Before I loved you I just went through the motions of life
Running here, dashing there
And now I found you the sun shines with a little bit more light
Down on everyplace and everywhere
You were right beside me and though I didn't see it coming
Your love blind sided me you knocked me off my feet
And sent my world spinning

When I found you I found everything,
My heart learned how to beat again
Now I'm in love with my best friend,
I'm lost in you and I found everything

Now your're with me, home alone is all that I desire
A quiet night, set for two
Saying nothing but words are effervescent in the fire
A whispering kiss from me to you
Your love flows like honey melting in the heat of summer
And just like a thunderstorm, you took me by surprise,
And left me filled with wonder

I never thought you would turn out to be
The love of my life
From friend to lover so suddenly
It couldn't be more perfect if I tried

Until When

In the old dusty attic I dragged out the chest
Hiding under the cot
I'd been dreaming for a long time of what was inside
Behind that faded gold lock
A broken frame fell out as I opened up the top
And written on the back
A faded pen had scratched

Until when
I see you again
Remember, your're the only one
And I know then
With each letter that I send
I'll be home, just try to pretend
Until when

I dug a little deeper I found the faded envelopes
Bound up with a yellow bow
And underneath the letters was a tarnished medal
Lying on a folded flag below
A funeral card lay there and as I read the solemn note
Written on the back
A faded pen had scratched

Until when
I see you again
Remember, you're the only one
And you'll know then
With each prayer that I send
I'll come home, just try to pretend
Until when

And now I know why Grandma raised my Mom alone
Why when she died she smiled, cause she was goin' home

And now it's then
She will see him again
She remember's, he's the only one
And he knows then
That on a wing and a prayer
She's come home, he don't have to pretend,
Until when

In A Heartbeat

I DIDN’T SLEEP A WINK ON THE COUCH LAST NIGHT
WILL YOU PLEASE LET ME HOLD YOU AS I SAY
I’M SORRY I WANNA SOMEHOW MAKE IT RIGHT
LET ME PUT A SMILE BACK ON YOUR FACE. AND YOU SAID

IN A HEARTBEAT, I’LL TAKE YOU BACK
IN A HEARTBEAT, MY LOVE RUNS DEEPER THAN THAT
IN A HEARTBEAT I FORGIVE YOU EVERYTIME
YOU KNOW I’D GIVE MY VERY LIFE…………FOR YOU
IN A HEARTBEAT……….IN A HEARTBEAT

THE KIDS CAME IN FROM THE PLAYGROUND AFTER A FIGHT
LITTLE SUZIE WAS POUTING AND KATHY WAS SOAKING WET
LOOKING AT EACH OTHER THEY LAUGHED UNTIL THEY CRIED
I’M SORRY LET’S PLAY TEA PARTIES AGAIN…….AND THEY SAID

CHORUS

EVERY DAY IN DIFFERENT WAYS
WE LET EACH OTHER DOWN
BUT WHEN I TURN MY FACE TO MY GOD ABOVE
AND ASK FORGIVENESS I HAVE FOUND……………HE SAYS

CHORUS

I Gotta Fly

THE FACE IN THE MIRROR
SAID DO YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO DARE
SO I PACKED A BAG AND TOOK OFF
ON A WING WITH A PRAYER
IT WAS ALL WORTH THE WAITING
IT’S THE PRICE YOU PAY TO PLAY
NOW I’M FLOATING LIKE A FEATHER
I’M FREE TO FLY AWAY

I’M FLYING…………TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN
AND I SOARING……………ABOVE THE VALLEYS I’VE WALKED IN
I WON’T LIVE MY LIFE BY THE ROLL OF A DICE
FOR ME IT’S DO OR DIE…………I’VE GOTTA FLY

THE PICTURE ISN’T DIFFERENT
NOW I’M ON THE OTHER SIDE
I STILL CAN’T TAKE FOR GRANTED
ALL THE GIFTS I HAVE INSIDE
NOTHING IS A GAME OF CHANCE
IT’S BELIEVING IN YOURSELF
RISING UP TO REACH A HEIGHT
BEYOND WHAT YOU’VE EVER FELT

CHORUS

WE DON’T KNOW WHAT LIFE HOLDS OR WHAT COULD’VE BEEN
UNTIL WE TAKE A STEP OF FAITH AND FOLLOW THE DREAM WITHIN

CHORUS

Forgive And Forget

FORGIVE AND FORGET (C) K.THOMPSON/BJ.CANNON 2007

In the living room recliner I still see my Dad's shadow
Hiding with his bottle and rollin his tobacco
I caught myself in the memory too young to understand his pain
I wanted him to read to me come outside to laugh and play
Now that I am older I know he lived inside himself
He couldn't love who he was, how could he love on someone else, cause

Saying sorry dont come easy
We have to stand on the other side
When there's nothing left but feelings
You wipe the tears from blinded eyes
Cause when you really love someone
You've gotta give until you get
I tell you in the long run
Just forgive and forget

One day while flippin channels on that Sylvania TV
Dad finally found Jesus and started changing quietly
Tried to make it up to us for all the years of wasted time
Did his best and tried to share bits and pieces of his life
He shed a tear or tear talkin about the war and his regrets
But let everything go when I held his hand breathin his last breath, and

Chorus

I wonder does he know the gift he gave to me
It's never too late to turn around because forgiveness is free

Chorus

Lightening Sometimes Strikes Twice

Written By: Kate Thompson

She waltzed in like the wind
On a summer afternoon
Her coal eyes burned through me
As she stared across the room
She laid her money down
On my mahogoney bar
And I knew I was in trouble
When her fingers brushed my arm

Fool me twice it's shame on me
But when you're blinded you can't see
All the bad memories are blown away
In the heat of the night till the dawn of the day
When you wake from fool's paradise you'll find
Lightening sometimes strikes twice

I had thought that she was mine
Oh once upon a year
But I found the hard way
She'd toss you down just like a beer
I rather take my chances
In a raging hurricane
But reason slipped away from me
Like a dose of novacaine

CHORUS

It ain't no use in tryin again
To tie her down so I'll count to ten
Cause all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Won't drag me back to the place where

CHORUS

A Sunburned Man

Written By: Kate Thompson

He was gored by a bull
In the prime of his life
Lost his leg and his farm
But never his pride
And I still remember
His hard attitude
I was scared of him then
But I'm glad that I knew

This sunburned man
Who made his livin seem easy
On a sunburned land
To a city slicker like me
And I'll never forget
All the days that I spent
On a farm outside Oakey
Worked by a sunburned man

He was up before dawn
Out milkin cows
Muckin in mud
And tendin the sows
I would swing on the gate
As I watched him work
He seemed invincible
When I was a girl

CHORUS

He lived his life
for four boys and his wife
It was all stripped away
In a minute that day, for
CHORUS

His boys left the land
And his wife went to town
And now there's just memories
Of this sunburned man.

Frank

Written By: Kate Thompson

He smiled a toothy grin
From a weathered face
He had two strands of hair
Combed over in place
He had holes in his shoes
Where his toes poked out
And his belly hung over
His cracked leather belt
And he played hard
He worked hard
Between his boat on the bay
And his old junk yard

Frank was his name
And frank was his manner
Fish eye soup
Was his favourite dinner
And though he was man of means
You'd swear he needed charity
Frank.

He had a cussin cockatoo
That lived in the kitchen
Where the counters were covered
With old car engines
On the walls hung
Amazing wood carvings
A remnant left
Of youthful trademarkings
And he never ever told me a lie
With a rum in his hand
And a wink in his eye

CHORUS

And he was the salt of the earth
He wore the salt of the sea
And he left a million people
A million memories

CHORUS

He lived every day
till he was ninety four
Now he's sailing with the big man
On heaven's shore

And We Danced

Written By: Kate Thompson

Our bed was as cold as the love that we had
How did somethin so good get so bad
Why did those tender times turn into fights
That left us so empty inside
But now as our little girl stands there in white
We smile and pretend everything is all right

So we dance
We danced round the heartache
And pain that we felt
The memories somewhere
'Tween heaven and hell
And I wished that we had
A last second chance
Cause my heart was breaking
As we smiled and we danced

We sit together as they say I do
I remember saying those words to you
I saw forever shine in your eyes
Now we are strangers living a lie
The camera's all flashed and the photos were done
But our game of pretence had only begun

As they drove away at the end of the day
I wished I could find the love left behind
