Bio

Kat's musical life started when she was only 5 years old, when she first laid eyes on the old out-of-tune piano she discovered in her family's new home. Piano lessons led to festival competitions, which in turn led to several awards - including the Best Overall Piano Student at the Ottawa Musical Festival in 1990 (she was only 9 years old). It was the following year that she discovered singing after witnessing one of her fellow students performing at a recital. Kat asked her teacher if she could take singing lessons, and in response to the question, "sure... but can you sing?" belted out 'Tomorrow' from the movie "Annie". Needless to say her teacher agreed to give her singing lessons. Kat's participation in festivals that summer added both piano and singing awards to her mantle. At 11 years of age, Kat moved to the Philippines. Going through a tough time in Junior High, she started writing songs to help her through her growing pains - combining the knowledge gained from her piano and singing lessons with the pre-teen emotion she was experiencing (insert joke here). She premiered her first song when she was 13 years old at a local radio station, which led to the opportunity to perform at several shows in the city. Upon arriving at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, she met the founders of Conduct Becoming, who were more than happy to provide her with every possible opportunity to perform, whether it be a gig at the Pub or even singing "Auld Lang Syne" at an after hours party! She also fronted one of the university's premier bands, "TBA" who, in her words, "she misses SO MUCH!" Kat also picked up a few acting skills when she joined the Feast Dinner Theatres on Prince Edward Island. Kat is now residing in Vancouver... and has been for the past year and a bit. Though it's only been a year - she is starting to make her mark... slowly but surely... LOL! Aside from being involved in many shows in town (Tony and Tina's Wedding to be one of them), she is now the keyboard player and backup vocalist for the Jack Connolly Band (www.jackconnolly.com) and she also is a singer/songwriter in her own right. She recently performed at the Media Club for Keep Your Head Up Productions. She has been recording a lot lately and writing new material... so keep checking her at My Space for new stuff!!! Thanks for the support. GO TEAM MUSIC! And BREAK!
