Katherine Pohl

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

Katherine is an acoustic singer-songwriter based out of Boston. Her voice is backed by a resolute confidence, full of both strength and vulnerability. Her words shape experiences in a clever and thoughtful way, packaged instrumentally into something accessible and melodic.

Biography

Katherine has always been singing. There was never any question that there wouldn't be music in her life, in one way or another. It didn't take long before her knack for poetry and prose melded into songwriting, something that was inspired out of such artists as Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Fiona Apple. Learning to play guitar once she got to college significantly changed her life, and with a handful of chords she began playing for anyone who would listen. Attending Berklee College of Music for three years and studying songwriting only furthered her abilities, giving her the skills to truly hone her craft. Performing at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY twice gave her a very clear insight into audiences and their opinions, however loud. Since then, there is no longer such a thing as stage fright. Over the years, she has maintained her own voice both sonically and lyrically, and is incredibly excited to share with others the artist she has become.

Lyrics

Hypnotize Me

Written By: Katherine Pohl

Sure, we're a lot alike
Except I have a soul
A rolling tear, a sliding scale
To measure your latest black hole
And we're very similar people
Except I truly care
A dimming light making me squint
As I slip under your wooing stare

Play me like a fiddle,
Play me like a game
Your heart was never in it anyway
Play me like a piano
Over and over 'til I can't forget the song
Hypnotize me, then move on

And yes, we're both sincere
Except I don't live in lies
Taking up space trying to erase deceit
Before meeting my demise
And look at your life
And tell me why is no one smiling
We've wised up to your snide remarks
'Cause your apathy ain't compromising

Play me like a fiddle,
Play me like a game
Your heart was never in it anyway
Play me like a piano
Over and over 'til I can't forget the song
Hypnotize me, then move on

Was I sure thing as you lured me into thinking that you understand?
Was any facet of your face even remotely genuine?
I tell you man, you really had me goin' there for a while
Tricked and under your spell
But now the trance has lifted and I can tell

Play me like a fiddle,
Play me like a game
Your heart was never in it anyway
Play me like a piano
Over and over 'til I can't forget the song
Hypnotize me, then move on
