Roots music with a storytellers charm Kath Haling performs her songs honestly, making you feel at home and comfortable in your own skin. A true Australian songbird.

Biography

With Queensland’s beautiful Burleigh Beach forming the backdrop to her youth, it’s easy to see why Kath Haling has such a deep love for her glorious homeland, Australia. Yet having also lived in the United States, London and Whistler, Canada, Kath also has a strong affection for these places too, demonstrating one of her most notable traits – an almost overwhelming love for practically everything!
After living overseas for five years, Kath returned home to Australia in 2006 to devote herself completely to her music, which has gone from strength to strength with the launch of her latest EP, Alright With Me, in 2008. Kath has now played gigs in many well-known venues throughout Sydney and Melbourne alongside some of Australia’s finest talents.
With a natural storyteller’s charm – and an equally charming Queensland accent – Kath performs her songs honestly, making you feel at home and comfortable in your own skin, and reminding you that you are never alone.

Talk to me

Written By: Kath Haling

(Words and Music by Kath Haling ©2008)

Talk about love and I’ll paint you a rainbow
Of all of loves colours that I’ve seen
Talk about life and I’ll show you the pictures
Of all of the places that I’ve been
Talk about trust and I’ll give you my hand
To hold you when you can no longer stand

Cause you are my, you are my life
So talk to me

Talk about dreams and I’ll show you the stairway
I’m slowly climbing to the stars
Talk about faith and you’ll touch the blanket
That’s so warmly wrapped around my heart
Talk about mates and I’ll tie you a knot
That holds us together no matter what

Cause you are my, you are my life
So talk to me
You are my, you are my life
So talk to me

Talk about hurt and I’ll sit and cry with you
So at least they won’t be just lonely tears
Talk about heartache and I may not have tissues
But I’ll be the one who buys the beers
And when you’re exhausted I’ll give you my bed
And leave in you in peace so that you can rest your head

Cause you are my, you are my life
So talk to me
You are my, you are my life
So talk to me

Talk of forever and I’ll tell you I love
And that extends beyond mortal years
Talk about happiness and I’ll show you a mirror
‘cause my happiness is that you’re here
Talk of regrets and I’ll say I have none
‘cause I wouldn’t trade my life for
Nothing or no one

Cause you are my, you are my life
So talk to me
You are my, you are my life
So talk to me

Alright with me

Written By: Kath Haling

Waves crashing on my skin
I don’t know where I’m going
But I know that I’m with you
Snowballs turning my fingers red
I don’t know why I haven’t got frostbite yet
But I know that I’m with you

(chorus)
And that’s alright with me
Cause you love me so
And that’s all I need to know
Yeah that’s alright with me
Cause you love me so
And that’s all I need to know

Rain’s pouring through my clothes
I don’t know why I left my umbrella at home
But I know that I’m with you
People fighting without an end
I don’t know why everyone just can’t be friends
But I know that I’m with you

CHORUS

Yeah that’s all I need to know

Brother

Written By: Kath Haling

I know it seems I’ve taken my own sweet time
To find the words to say
And I know at times it seems I’ve been blind
When I stand still and around me the world rotates
But through all of my adventures
You’ve never been far from my mind

Beside my TV set there’s a picture
And it’s not there just to make you laugh
See I’m so proud of that young boy who’s sitting with me
You see that young boy well he’s my other half
People talk about people being rocks in their lives
But you’re not just my rock you’re everything to which I strive

(chorus)
And I just don’t know how to tell you
How to tell you, how to tell you, and that’s ok
Cause I just don’t know if I tell you
That you’ll under, understand anyway
And I know I’ll be something or someone, someday or another
But I would be nothing, without you my brother

And when my mind’s all mixed around
I talk with you and I am found
Even if you’re hurt yourself
You come running

I know I’m pulling out all the clichés but it’s
Hard to avoid or say it any other way
‘cause these words well they’re for heroes you see
And you are one of them to me

CHORUS

And I know I’ll be something or someone, someday or another
But I would be nothing, without you my brother

Start Again

Written By: Kath Haling

Let’s take it back to the first time I met you
My legs were shaking we were in someone’s backyard
I’d been so distracted that I hadn’t foreseen
I’d meet someone who would mean what you mean to me

As the night swept over the band was playing
We got to talking, you came over to me
The champagne was flowing and I remember thinking
You seemed to be wearing your heart on you sleave

(chorus)
But oh how things have changed
Years have passed but that memory’s remained
Something went wrong between now and then
Can we please go back and just start again

And the next day all of those strangers
Would become people who would become friends
And amongst the laughter and beyond the guitars
It was you and me sitting in someone’s back yard

CHORUS

Valentines Day and I actually had plans
To be taken for a picnic on Burleigh Headland
But I was so tired all I wanted to do
Was enjoy the barbie and just talk with you

CHORUS

Cause it seems that I have the need
To destroy these things before they can succeed
And you think too much and I fight too hard
So can we please go back to that backyard

I want to not know you all over again
And erase this mess between now and then
Let’s talk about music or what’s on tv
And not try to figure out what’s between you and me

CHORUS

When I go home

Written By: Kath Haling

I don’t know the way now
Know the way now to go
And you can’t show me just how
Much you’re wanting to show

And I’m scared the only way I’ll know
Is by how much I miss you when I go
Yeah I’m scared the only way I’ll know
Is by how much I miss you when I go home

Because I hear my shores calling
Calling for me to come home
And I fear for that morning
When I set off on my own

And I scared the only way you’ll see
Is when you wake up that morning and your heart’s missing me
Yeah I’m scared the only way I’ll know
Is by how much I miss you when I go home

‘cause I don’t know the way now
Know the way now to go
And you won’t show me just how
Much you’re wanting to show

And I’m scared the only way I’ll know
Is by how much I miss you when I go
Yeah I’m scared the only way I’ll know
Is by how much I miss you when I go home

Is by how much I miss you when I go home
Is by how much I miss you when I go home

Not Stopping Here

Written By: Kath Haling

I’m not stopping at that
I’m trying
Not stopping at that
I’m fighting
Harder than you could ever imagine

And I’m not stopping at this
That’s crazy
Not stopping at this
We just may be
Stronger than you could ever imagine

And so my dear I’m not stopping here

And I’m not stopping this time
It’s not the same feeling this time
We’ve fallen further
Than we could ever imagine

And I’m not closing my eyes
Cause it’s time for us to realise
We can fly higher
Than we could ever imagine

And so my dear I’m not stopping here

I’m wrapping your heart up in mine
Cause baby we’re not stopping this time

And I’m not stopping at that
I’m trying
Not stopping at that
I’m fighting
Harder than you could ever imagine

And so my dear I’m not stopping here
And so my dear I’m not stopping here
And so my dear I’m not stopping here
And so my dear I’m not stopping here
