Bio

Kathleen Chaplin is an exceptional artist with a unique voice who writes her own songs. Her Pop/R&B music is fresh, powerful and appeals to a large audience.

This young woman of 29 may look a litlle reserved at first but a beautiful smile illuminates her face as soon as she speaks. Standing 5 feet 11 inches tall she charms with her big black eyes and smiles sincerely and generously.

Kathleen Chaplin was born on December 28th 1975 in France, in the working-class area of Belleville in the 20th Arrondissement of Paris, just a few meters away from the place where, as legend would have it, Edith Piaf was born.

She has in her genes a remarkable artistic wealth. The great-granddaughter of the playwright Eugene O’Neil, granddaughter of the famous and talented Charlie Chaplin, daughter of Patricia, an Irish-Trinidadian painter and Michael, an English-American writer, Kathleen has inherited an amazing blend of intelligence, beauty, creativity and talent.

Contrary to what we may imagine, Kathleen spent her childhood away from the spotlights and the world of show business. Her family moved from Paris to the countryside in South Western France. The family farm was modest and they listened to all the black music of the time: blues, soul and jazz. At the age of 10, she secretly began to write. Influenced by her idols Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, her creations, initially poems, soon became songs.

Today, Kathleen is releasing this first album called « No Experience Required ». If you ask her about the choice of the title, she will tell you not to look for any intellectual approach, but simply to take the time to listen to it, enjoy it, let yourself go, have fun and dance!

And if you are taken by melancholy listening to the splendid ballads that make up the album, she will win her bet, the one where she takes you into her musical universe, her life and her vision.

Beneath this apparent casualness, this album is seamless. The songs have been carefully chosen, the production is powerful, the voice modern, energetic, soft and sensitive at the same time. Whatever the critic, this is above all an album close to it’s performer, it is authentic and international.
