In between effortlessly shrugging the advances of barflies and blow-in drinkers, she trawls through Americana, blues and folk until the songs become engraved on her tongue. Singing since she could talk, and playing shows from the age of 8, Melbourne country and roots songstress Katie Bates will get you dancing off your feet, yet also swaying and longing for a Tennessee lover. Her recent single 'Rewrite A Page' from her newly released debut EP 'New Gold' has a strong saloon roots groove, along with a feeling like you've been transported into a Tarrantino film. The track has gotten solid attention from radio programs all around Australia and continues to blossom on online streaming platforms.

Paying respect to some of her favourite artists in Gillian Welch, Hank Williams, Tom Petty and Emmylou Harris, Katie has gained influence from her idols to create her own classic sound.

The past year saw Katie recording and playing shows around Victoria previewing her now released debut EP 'New Gold', produced by Connor Black-Harry and mastered by Adam Dempsey.
