"Said about Katie goes to Tokyo"

Nöjesguiden 4/6 - 2010

”There’s no doubt Kathrine Bergström is headed for something big, and Tokyo is a most likely first stop. Her crystal clear girly voice is perfect for the Japanese market and the sweet pop-melodies she dresses up with power arrangements sure are hard to resist [...] My Naked Heart is a never ending stream of hits.”

- Patrik Forshage

Norran 4/5 - 2010

”I fell in love with Kathrine Bergström’s voice the first time I heard it during a Backfish gig in the mid 90’s. The infatuation kept going with The Wilson Hospital and her first Katie Goes To Tokyo album. And it won’t let up [...] There is something so sweet about it that it’s a mystery that her music isn’t featured in every American feel-good television show out there.”
- Per Strömbro

Västerbottens Folkblad 4/5 - 2010

”Much like her first album this is all about driving, simple pop songs. However. Making something sound really simple is really hard but Katie apparently knows the trick. My Naked Heart is a thoroughly worked through and sharp album.”

-Sara Lundvall

UNT 4/5 - 2010
”At first listen this seems to be summery indie-rock with choruses that stick like glue. But pretty soon things turn more complex and faceted and you realize it’s far from the ideal sunny pop album you thought it was [...] The lyrics are dark and full of grief and sorrow. Discrete piano lines and unexpected chords changes the moods ever so subtle. With clever instrumentation and well crafted songs Bergström has created an amazing album.”
-Stefan Warnqvist
Joyzine 3/5 - 2010
”You don’t need a whole lot to make astonishing pop music [...] There is just something about Katie Goes To Tokyo”.
-Mikael Mjörnberg
Arbetarbladet 3/5 - 2010

”My Naked Heart is a collection of charming, shimmering, classic pop. The songs are well crafted and the arrangements are tasteful”.

-Ralph Bretzer - Different magazines, translated excerpts

Bio

Katie (Kathrine Bergström) grew up in Skellefteå, Sweden. Her soothing voice could be heard as early as 1996, when she released an album with the Ken Stringfellow-produced punkpop band Backfish. Later she hooked up with producer Marten Tromm, and together they released an album as The Wilson Hospital. The album was released in Japan in 2002. Sadly Katie and Mårten never got to go there.

In 2004 Kathrine and Mårten started writing new songs for Kathrines soloalbum. The album was released in 2006.

On August 18th 2010 Katie Goes To Tokyo released her second album My Naked Heart. The album was produced by Mårten Tromm, whose recent production work includes Hawksley Workman, Adaline, Buck 65, Neverending White Lights and Candy Coated Killahz. The album was mixed by Stew Crookes (Hawksley Workman, $100) and mastered by Phil Demetro at Laquer Sound in Toronto.

The lead-off single ”Little sister” gained heavy rotation on Swedish national radio and was picked up by several indie radio stations around Europe. Upon it’s release Katie made several national TV and radio-performances in Sweden.

The albums 7th track, the poetic dream-esque ballad ”Paper Moon”, is the result of an on-line collaboration between Katie and Hawksley Workman.

Katie has also set out to make one video a month for each of the 12 songs off of My Naked Heart.
