Bio

Raised in the quaint home town of Salisbury, Maryland, Katie Mack grew up fast. She began taking piano lessons at the ripe old age of three and began to sing in her church choir at age five. Music and creative expression were always very important to my parents and I effortlessly adopted their mindset. As early as eight years old, Katie began to express herself through writing and began to develop several songs. "I listened to Madonna, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany a lot growing up. I couldn't seem to get enough of their tapes. I was always writing poetry and songs and choreographing dances in my parent's living room. I've always had a love for feel good pop music; it has been a beautiful escape for me in good times and bad. Music is a friend that won't betray and it's helped me to express my passion, pain and growth through some difficult relationships. As she grew artistically, Katie finally sprung out of her small hometown when it became clear that her creative needs were not being met. Headstrong, she says, I realized I needed to head to L.A. where I could do this for real. Over the next few years she began to hone her craft, experimenting, in an attempt to find what worked the best with her vocal styling, arrangement and lyrical content. After all of the hard work she then began to come into her own, realizing that after trying out r & b, ska, rock and even punk she has a pure pop voice. Combining poetry and song, she created the innovative, sultry and emotionally charged song lyrics and melodies you will find in her music today. So reliant on the rest/ I neglect what I attest/ Look within to heal without/ I'll find the source within the drought/ If I'm harvesting now I'll reap later/ I've got to lick my own wounds to be greater/ I can't ask you to fix what you did not break/ A lifetime of men won't heal a soul ache." She quickly found herself working with such a heavy hitters as Damon Elliot (Pink, Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson), Dave Dunn (Infectious Grooves), Javier Mosley (Felicity, Proper Grounds with Maverick Records) and Barrett Yeretsian (Aviatic) on tracks and innovative beats, which added the additional musical element she was looking for; a unique sound that must be heard! Overall Katie Mack has written, arranged and recorded over 30 songs and is currently working on a much anticipated new album. Her biggest influences today are Nelly Furtado, Fergie, Gwen Stefani as well as Fiona Apple and many more. While I love pop and know that my voice caters well to it, I have such eclectic taste, on any given day you will find Outkast, The Cure, Nirvana or Amerie in my CD Player, all depending on my mood. I like to think that each one in its own way has been an influence on my music.
