""Flawlessly finished voice""

"Flawlessly finished voice over quirky to haunting instrumentals, Kati O'Toole’s sound is one which is older than the she. She mediates youth and depth with a power that eludes many of her peers. It will be very exciting to see what she makes of the next years."

Bio

Kati O'Toole grew up in a small town in Montana on the Flathead Salish and Kootenai reservation on the pristine Flathead Lake. You can almost hear the landscape in her songs.

She started playing piano at the age of 3 before her feet could even touch the floor. Picking up the guitar at age 14, O'Toole began writing songs and secretly recording her songs on her Tascam 4 track in her living room while everyone else was asleep.

After living in several different parts of the west including Oregon, Hawaii and Montana she decided to take the train to Boston and persue her love of music and take it more seriously.

Getting her degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, O'Toole got used to the city livin' and was one of the only girls in her class of hundreds getting a degree in Music Production and Engineering.

After a stint in Nashville and looking for something new, O'Toole packed up and headed back west to to Los Angeles in search of something new. Working at some local recording studios and meeting new musicians, she was picked up by a local band hit the road on a national tour supporting the Robert Francis band as the organist playing wurlitzer and singing backup vocals.

O'Toole has now decided to focus on her own music and is currently finishing up her debut album "On Ashland" which will be released in the late summer. Living in Los Angeles, O'Toole has picked a couple new guys to back her up, Israeli session guitarist Asaf Rodeh and Paul Herd from Colorado. Both add to the eclectic instrumentation behind the band’s sound. O’Toole keeps you guessing what’s next during her sets with sublime whistling skills and guest appearances from beat boxing friends.

Drawing comparisons to rising rootsy folk acts such as Neko Case and Brandi Carlisle, Kati O’Toole is dead on to be the next strong voice in the girls who can sing, play and produce category. Stay tuned in to what this chick from the country will do in the future and expect a full-length album out soon.
