Bio

Possessing a God-given talent that captivates and distinguishes this bi-coastal m.c. from the rest, Katmann (born in Oakland raised in Vallejo now residing in New York) pairs clever wordplay with a smooth, hypnotic flow to make him one of the most dangerous rappers alive. His trademark in-your-face baritone delivery is coupled with distinct vocal cadences and diverse songwriting ability, enabling Katmann’s name to be mentioned alongside the greatest in the game, past and present.

Katmann’s debut album 9 Lives was recorded back in 2003 with West Coast heavyweight producer Mike Mosley (2Pac, E-40, TQ and many others) in 4 days, a superhuman pace to say the least. Mosley’s landmark home studio (where the historic 2Pac album All Eyez On Me was recorded) served as the perfect backdrop for Katmann to lay down a modern-day classic of his own. The result: 30,000 copies sold independently on Gateway Records. The album was very well-received on the West Coast Bay Area. It didn’t stop there, as Katmann and krew embarked on a 3-month North American tour that spanned such diverse areas as California, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Washington, Oregon and Canada.

After taking a brief hiatus in the years following the release of his groundbreaking debut, Katmann returns to the rap scene with an enhanced arsenal and a completely new bag of tricks on his follow-up sophomore effort, "What Would Katmanndu?" The hit lead single “She Said” (available now on iTunes, Rhapsody, & Amazon.com) kicks the movement off with an upbeat, Latin-tinged, sensually-charged club banger, as Katmann flows over raucous drums and frantic horns about his various escapades.

Produced primarily by up-and-comer Justin "Juice" Staley and Katmann, What Would Katmanndu?’s mesmerizing soundscapes have expanded well beyond the Bay and are enthralling listeners across the country. All of this momentum has led to a featured Center Stage spot in MTV’s “On The Rise” competition, a very appropriate title for Mr. Duesenberg Slimm. With several deals and offerings on the table, and success coming at him so fast, the only question left to ask is…what will Katmanndu? * * * * * ..
