Bio

Kat Marsh is a DIY performer with a big voice and many instruments.

Her music career started with a bang in 2003, her previous band managed to get support slots for both the Scissor Sisters and Regina Spektor in Cardiff Barfly that year.

The band split after graduation and Kat went solo in 2006. She started live looping almost immediately, the aim being to make her live show more than just a girl with a guitar.

Since then her set up has grown quite a bit. She plays bass, keys and guitar, loops beats using an MPC sampler and layers her own vocal harmonies.

For songs beyond the capabilities of looping (for instance, Quit with it's full string section!) she plays over backing tracks. The aim is always the same, to perform her songs as completely as possible as a solo artist.

Alongside the technology and instrumental multi-tasking is the voice. She has a uniquely powerful vocal and massive range, and has recorded guest vocals on recent albums for artists including The King Blues, Crazy Arm And Julian Tulk.

Over the past few years she has self-booked and played over 200 shows all over the UK and has recently been taken on by Live Music Connections, a local booking agency. She is currently looking for a bigger booking agent for UK and Europe shows.

Her next project is the recording of a second live DVD in December, her first was recorded earlier this year at Presspack Studios in Plymouth. Four songs were recorded during this 'Abbey Road' style session, with a full band, string quartet and backing vocalists. The entire session was directed and produced by Kat herself (head to the video section to check out 'Welcome' or Kat's myspace page for the whole session.) The next dvd promises to be even bigger and better, with new tracks and artistic direction.

She is also in development with a major US producer, planning the recording of her debut album in 2010.
