Katrina Brown

Katrina was born just south of Buffalo in Springville, NY and almost immediately began singing. She first performed publicly at the age of 5.
Katrina's family moved to West Virginia, her father's home state, when she was 10. She toured with a gospel group while in high school and also performed her first two originals at school assemblies. After that, she fronted a couple of local rock bands.
Katrina's solo career was born in 1990 when she moved to Sacramento. She caught people's attention with a performance recorded in front of a live audience at Cafe Montreal. After the show aired, Katrina's fan base exploded.
In 1993, Kat found herself in Asheville, NC and quickly gained respect and a faithful following. Later, she filled in as lead singer for Primitive Future when Lisa Pawlak took a leave of absence. During this time, Kat got to perform at the legendary Double Door in Charlotte as well as the Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville.
After finding her way back to WV, Kat joined Catch 22 as lead vocalist. She remained with the band for almost four years and recorded "Counting" a CD containing twelve of her originals, with them. Several tracks received airplay on The River 102.3 and 103 CIR.
Early in 2002, Katrina returned to playing solo. By late 2003, "Observations" was recorded live-in-the-studio and released.
Once you understand that Katrina's influences range from Willie Nelson to Heart... from Janis Ian to Ani Difranco, then her music may fit into some odd-shaped box (if you jump up and down on it like an overstuffed suitcase.) Four out of five people think Katrina's music is the good kind.
Katrina is currently coercing friends into climbing onboard for her latest recording project, "Fabulous Thing." We can guarantee that it will include plenty of humor, obscene amounts of emotion, and maybe even a touch of wisdom.
