Drawing from a long line of influences--from Bob Dylan to The Doors, Hemingway to Brubeck, Radiohead to Leadbelly--this San Diego quartet is inspired to create by the genius of the music and words that surround them. Giving equal weight to every note, both those played and unplayed, their sound is at once fluid and melodic while it simultaneously challenges the listener to feel the importance of what is left unheard. Pulsing, rising, falling, retreating, attacking,: this is KATTEGAT SOUND. Slipping from form to form, but without ever losing its edge: this is their sound.
A soft swirl of patient October fog hung above the twist of sleeping streets. Thin limbs whispered overhead. Leaves rattled, shook and swung against the pull of the wind. Down a flight of stairs, buried beneath the hiss of city sleep, in a cool wood room rose a growl. A sweet clash of sound: cedar, salt, and whiskey. It rose slow, sunk into the floorboards, snuck through the walls, slid between each wire window frame, and screamed into the morning air, alive and burning in a golden glow. The voice of KATTEGAT SOUND.
