Bio

Katy was just a child when she was first struck by the power of music. She remembers listening to her mom and dad sing in a local stage production back in her hometown of Danville, Virginia. That performance also marked Katy's stage debut. She was cast as an extra in the show and, somewhere about the middle of the program at the very impressionable age of four, Katy knew that this was something she wanted to do.

Fast forward – Katy has blossomed into a talented young woman determined to sing her way into people's hearts. She trained her voice, honed her acting skills and set her sights on New York City. "No matter what happened, though," she remembers, "I always dreamed that one day I would return to my southern roots."

Katy was performing in regional theater and local showcases when she scored her first big break. She caught the eye of Broadway producers who tabbed her to play the coveted role of Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber's long running Broadway hit "The Phantom of the Opera." Soon after she was cast in the title role of Eva Peron in the highly acclaimed national tour of Lloyd Webber's "Evita." She received rave reviews throughout the country.

"I love working in the theater," Katy says, "but more and more, my heart kept taking me back home. I started writing country songs and performing them for my friends and my family. I feel really comfortable with country."

New York is a great place to live, but Katy wanted to spread her wings further, this time west, and decided to drop in on L.A. for a while. She performed at local clubs and in regional theater but, most importantly, continued testing her own songs and honing her personal style. The positive reaction convinced her to record some of her tunes.

Of course, being Katy, she just couldn't book a recording studio in L.A. to sing country music. No, Katy flew to Nashville, booked great musicians at a legendary studio and recorded her first CD, a self-titled compilation of country tunes that lived for a long time inside her heart.

"I love what I do and this is the next stop on my journey," she says. "I feel like I've come full circle. New York, Los Angeles – they're wonderful and they've been great to me. Deep down inside, though, I'll always be a country girl."
