On every inner-city corner in America, there are stories of struggle, pain and hardship. The realization of this truth inspired the birth of the unique poetic musical expression known as Hip Hop. The Hip Hop culture was founded upon the desire to release the frustrations of troubled minds who found themselves subjected to the everyday woes of impoverished living. The mix of little to no education, broken homes, substance abuse, illegal drug trafficking and gang activity were the elements responsible for creating generations of unstable young boys who instead of being educated by schools, instead became educated by the streets. They learned how to survive and adapt to their blocks. They educated themselves in every aspect of block knowledge and applied those life experiences to become masters of their craft. Although these boys may never receive a degree or certification from any accredited school or university, they have the qualities and skills that earn them the right to be called CERTIFIED BLOCKBOYS.

The CERTIFIED BLOCKBOYS consist of four individuals from different regions of the country who have come together to join their separate experiences to create a soundscape of stories that take you into the minds of block boys all over the nation. Whether you reside in Compton, Chicago, New York or Dallas, you will be able to relate to the message and lifestyle of the CERTIFIED BLOCKBOYS. The fusion of these four MCs creates a fresh mix of different styles and influences. RASROK uses vivid imagery to paint an insightful portrait of the affluent and culturally rich yet impoverished dichotomy that is Chicago, Illinois. KAUTION implements the use of intelligent but fluid rhyme schemes to illustrate the joys and challenges of growing up in the violent but exciting city of Los Angeles, California. The unrealistic glamorization and glorification of drug trafficking in modern day Hip Hop is given a proper perspective in the hard but pain-felt lyrics of Texas dope boy J-HURT. And SOULJA STEVE contributes a soulful, southern swagger with elements of poetic devices, seen last in the late Tupac Shakur, that help depict the emotional strain that comes with living a life engulfed in the streets. All of these individuals have come together to create a sound that is innovative and groundbreaking. The CERTIFIED BLOCKBOYS are in no way just a few rappers thrown together, they are the foundation and cornerstone of a new movement in Hip Hop.

Growing up in the notorious hood of Compton, California is no easy task. The violent, gang-ridden streets have been glamorized in countless movies and thru the music of hip hop legends such as N.W.A. and Dr. Dre. But CERTIFIED BLOCKBOY$ member Kaution, hopes to give a fresh and in-depth perspective of the Compton corners as he sees it. Only impressed by a small few of the young rappers who claim his hood, Kaution fills a void in authenticity and his clever wordplay and thought provoking lyrical content more often draw comparisons to non-California based artists which prove that Kaution is not your average Compton rapper. As the sole West Coast representation in CERTIFIED BLOCKBOYS, Kaution's gritty voice proves to be a unique one in the BLOCKBOY movement.
