Kaveman

Chelson(Kaveman), began his musical career at the age of 14 serving as writer and lead lyricist for teenage rap group ‘The Crazy Youngstas’ that he formed with a group of his childhood friends. He spent his days as a high school student and his evenings heating up the Detroit music scene. The group received standing ovations for their performances at BET’s 106 and Park and the Detroit Metro Music Awards where they opened for Eminem and D12. They also appeared on Detroit’s FM 98 WJLB radio station as the featured local performers. The ‘Crazy Youngstas’ parted ways after the death of Chelson’s mother in 2002. That was when the ‘Kaveman’ was born. His musical roots run deep. He is the son of the highly respected Motown songwriting legend Barrett Strong. When you have that kind of talent in your blood wonderful things are bound to happen. Chelson decided that it was time to use his passion to not only make his peers dance, but to speak to people of all ages. He spent several years working underground cultivating his craft and expanding his musical talents. Since then, he’s never looked back. (Kaveman), a 22-year-old Detroit native, has been described as the Bo Jackson of the new generation of hip-hop artists. His talent crosses boundaries lending to his resume writing, producing and artist management. This young lyricist’s unique blending of today’s hip-hop with classic rock, jazz and R&B has created an eclectic sound that mimics his passion for creating meaningful music. Kaveman’s songwriting demonstrates his undeniable talent. He builds illustrations with his lyrics and performances that allow the audience to vibe with him on the most intimate level. With catchy tracks like “Disco Lights”, “California”, “Sex N The Sky”, and “Cut The Lights Off”, Kaveman has a knack for making music you just can’t get enough of. The Kaveman moniker was derived from this young MC’s journey of self-discovery. The way of the Kave is a metaphor for being overcome by the unknown and the Kaveman represents the struggle that plagues today’s society. He uses his unique voice to speak and sometimes shout for those that cannot speak for themselves. When his many followers yell out “Kave-man” he rightfully tells his soldiers to fall in line. He is currently hard at work on an album of destined-to-be hip-hop classics that will set him apart from any other artists to date. Chelson credits his among biggest inspirations his father, Barrett Strong, Miles Davis, Mos Def, Tupac, Nas, The fugees, and Big L.
