KAWE CALYPSO

Kawe Calypso, is a calypsonian group from Cahuita, a small city located
on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coastline. The group was formed by Danny
Williams and Alfonso Goulbourne who are great songwriters, performers
and teachers of Calypso who have dedicated their lives to promoting and
perpetuating the style.
Danny and Alfonso grew up in Cahuita and
discovered their passion for making music during the 1970s with the
‘Buddha Band,’ one of Costa Rica’s most famous and accomplished Calypso
bands. Otillio Brown is a high-end guitarist who joined Kawe Calypso
over 10 years ago.
Today they are dedicated to teaching and
radiating the genre, of which for many years has served as a means of
expression and good vibes. They are considered by the great Calypsonian
legend Walter Ferguson as the best representatives of the style today.
