"How I'm Coming"

Chicago artist Kay Smith just released the official music video for his fast-paced Xavior Jordan-produced single, “How I’m Coming.” Spitting about his grind and authenticity, Kay Smith appears focused and ready to separate himself from the many rising Chicago acts. Sonically, “How I’m Coming” is far from drill music, but Kay Smith definitely brings hard lyrics to the table. Smith’s musical influences stem from the storytelling of rapper J.Cole to the smooth captivating ways of drawing a crowd from the likes of Drake. With raw lyricism, and a hard-knocking beat, “How I’m Coming” is a must hear record that hints that Kay Smith will be around for quite some time. Armed with a pen and unique verbal approach, Kay Smith displays his love of poetry and passion for music as he makes his mark in hip-hop. At the age of 16, Kay found his purpose through writing poetry, which led him to show his passion on stage. As a member musically creative family, Kay Smith gained inspiration from his cousin, Treated Crew rapper, Saint Millie. By witnessing the Treated Crew rapper create music, Kay Smith grew the confidence to turn his artistry into music. His musical influences stem from the storytelling of rapper J.Cole to the smooth captivating ways of drawing a crowd from the likes of Drake, Kay Smith has the drive to create his own path as an artist. In 2012, the young artist released his first official song, "Take Notes", which was a well-received showcasing that his lyrical content will be a threat to all artists. With his arrogant yet vicious wordplay, he was able to display his musical craft by opening up for rising artists such as Vic Spencer, Roy French, and Saba Pivot.

In June 2015, Kay Smith released "How I’m Coming", which provides an aggressive tone with an amazing lyrical substance that places his unique signature on the Chicago hip-hop scene. The most popular song on his SoundCloud is Blessing, which is produced by Retro 1, the producer behind the Tory Lanez smash, "Set it Off". With a revamp underway, Kay Smith is destined to make a mark in the music industry.
