Hailing from Central Virginia via the sunny streets of Los Angeles, California is one of the hottest newcomers to the hip hop game, Kay’O. With a steely resolve and a diverse skill set, this artist is spreading like wildfire through Southwest, delivering an incredible array of infectious beats and jaw-dropping rhymes. By remaining focused, tirelessly writing new material, and avoiding the temptations and pitfalls of the street life, Kay’O is positioning himself for an extremely bright career.

Kay’O began learning the trade at a young age, as his father worked in the industry and exposed him to studios, recording, and the inner workings within the business. He relocated from Los Angeles to Central Virginia in high school, where he began taking music seriously; recording, producing, and selling his material by age 16. His peers quickly recognized and respected his talents, picking him as the “Most Likely to be a Rapper” superlative, which immediately foreshadowed Kay’O’s current path.

By utilizing a diverse musical philosophy, Kay’O refuses to be pigeonholed within a specific segment of hip hop, and mixes influences from both coasts, the Dirty South, and Midwest to generate a unique and eclectic sound. While continuing to sharpen his personal skills, he also lends his talents to the burgeoning local rap group, Jump Out Boyz (J.O.B.), which consists of some of the hottest young artists in the area. After drawing comparisons to major artists such as T.I., Lil’ Wayne, Chamillionaire, and Young Joc, he continued to churn out explosive, fiery tracks which appeared on various mixtapes and landed him opening slots for national names like Lil’ John and the Eastside Boys, T.I., and Bubba Sparxx.

Kay’O’s most recent mixtape release, Let Me In, debuted in December 2011, along with a number of singles such as “I Make Em Rock” and “Wit a Lil Twist,” which have already been appearing on digital retailers such as iTunes. This hip hop anthem machine isn’t showing any sign of slowing down yet though, as his next mixtape release is slated for a spring debut, entitled Let Me In 2.

Look for Kay’O to continue taking over the airwaves and clubs throughout the Southeast, and expect even more explosive and heart pumping releases in the near future. Streaming audio is available on his MySpace and ReverbNation pages, and fans can connect with him on Facebook or Twitter. Singles are available for purchase through iTunes, and Kay’O also has an offering of songs uploaded to YouTube.
