Product Description:
Tales from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Highway takes readers backstage, behind the scenes, into the studio, on the road, into the minds, and out on the street with anecdotes revealing what really goes on in living the rock and roll life.
Included are some of the most famous names in popular music, among them Gram Parsons, The Doors, David Crosby, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Sex Pistols, Three Dog Night, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, the Allman Brothers Band, and many, many more.
Tales told by musicians at all levels of experience, their roadies, radio personalities, music journalists, tour managers, and fans offer fascinating accounts of what really goes on during road trips and tours, as well as pranks, diversions, and outlandish behavior experienced through attempts at overcoming the tedium and loneliness of the rock and roll life. In their own words, artists tell their side of the story about their daily lives, the drawbacks to touring, the opportunities they are afforded, and how it all shakes out and what it all means to them.
Divided into chapters, with sections within each introduced by the author's narration, the book includes stories about studio experiences, record company interaction, macabre behavior, surprising encounters, groupies, drug and alcohol excesses, performances, bus tales, fan encounters, concert promoters, once-in-a-lifetime shows, and off-hand evaluations of other rockers.
Warning: Readers of this book may learn more than they ever cared to know about their favorite, or least favorite, artists.

Bio

Kayte and Dennis are seasoned professionals who have carved out a unique niche in the music scene by bringing back the depth, meaning, and soothing quality of the folk rock movement of the 60's and 70's.

Kayte has been likened to her singer/songwriter mentors Sir Elton John, Carly Simon, Sarah McLaughlin, and Carole King, but with a positive twist: she chooses to center her writing around making the world a better place. "You become what you think, therefore you become what you write and sing." Kayte treats today's moral and personal issues in song, gently inviting the audience to become more self-aware and in touch with themselves and their own purpose. This is why her audience is so often moved to tears.

Kayte is no stranger to the world of the concert performance. She has toured internationally behind such great talents as the Coasters, the Platters, Chris Montez, Peaches and Herb, and Mel Carter. She has played keyboards and sung backup in front of as many as twenty-five thousand people on the opening weekend at the Blockbuster Pavilion near Los Angeles, California.

Kayte’s writing and touring partner Dennis Bryon is also no stranger to success; Dennis is one of the most successful drummers in history. He has been an integral part of three hit groups: Amen Corner, Fair Weather, and the BeeGees. He joined forces with Kayte in late 2001, and since then their record sales have doubled. At this time, Dennis and Kayte began creating a New-Age line of CD’s under their combined names Strong & Bryon.

Their independent label "Artfest Records" has sold over two hundred thousand recordings while touring and promoting their music all over the world. Kayte and Dennis scored a chart record in 2003 with the release of their New Age album "Serene Noel" which went to #96 without the benefit of any promotion other than live touring.

The new single "The Hero Of The Game" was written to raise funds for the families of the soldiers who were injured in the Iraq war. This song tells the story of and commemorates the actions of celebrity basball star Rick Monday--He "rescued" the flag at a Cubs game in April 1976. This event is recognized as being one of the top 100 moments in baseball history.
