"On Deck Interview"

I’m from: The Eastside [of Detroit]

Growing up in Detroit has taught me: That nothing is free in this world. [I learned] how to grind, how not to have a lot and still make it work. It teaches you survival – if you can make it in Detroit, I feel that you can make it anywhere.

I got into the music industry because: I love music. I love the life and the things that come with the industry. I’ve always been into music; I played the drums as a kid.

I grew up listening to: Everybody, but mostly Tupac, Biggie, Jay-z, Nas, Lil Wayne, and Eminem.

The first song I recorded was: Called “get it”, I was 17 and it was a club song. Back then it was the best thing out, to me, but when I look back on it its funny because of how far along I’ve came. I used to rap all punch lines and now I make music.

I’m currently working on: My 3rd mixtape, Million dollar dreams reloaded, hosted by DJ Young Mase, [and it] comes out on September 20th. It’s called reloaded because it’s a mixture of my first 2 mixtapes plus some other songs. I’m doing it this way because the world hasn’t heard those songs and now I have more outlets to get it out.

When I’m in the studio: The energy is always crazy. I get in my zone by turning the beat up and vibing to it. I freestyle real good, so I freestyle until I catch my rhyme pattern and go from there.

I am most proud of: The consistency I have shown; even though it was a slow process, I never got down on myself I just kept grinding. Also, the things I have accomplished in a yr. of being all the way serious with music; I dropped 2 mixtapes and the third is on the way so that’s a proud feeling.

If I wasn’t rapping I’ll be: Trying to run a business. Take my grind and business mind to the other side.

By this time next year: I will still be making music and hopefully getting a lot of money doing it. I want to come out with an album if things are in place to work. I want my whole team to be on by this time next year. I have a huge support system, and I want them to enjoy the same perks because we all are grinding

I want to be remembered by: My impact on the game. I feel my time is coming soon so I want to have a big impact on the industry. I turned music from a dream to a goal so I want people to remember how hard I worked to get there. Being remembered by your grind is good because people have a lot of respect for that. - Soodetroit
