Writer/Producer, Mikeal “K-Black” Smith was born in Danville, IL to a life filled with music. His love of music and the lifestyle developed as he watched people dance to the melodies during the numerous house parties hosted by his mother and grandmother. The family eventually moved to Minneapolis, MN where negative influence began to get the best of him, as he searched for another outlet he began writing and producing. K-Black developed his talent in school as he annihilated his opponents with his words but soon decided he was not a battle rapper, deciding to make music that everyone could relate to. In 1998 then known as kaos K-Black dropped his first studio album, “Hustlers Convention”; it was an underground success that sold thousands of units with major, minor and independent support. The success of the album made him the first rap artist out of the St.Paul Metro area and Midwest region to gain that type of independent success. In 2002 he teamed up with his then 13 year old brother, Ronald “Red100” Jackson, together they started, Platinum Boize Music, a publishing company that published songs for several industry heavyweights. With new projects in the works, a new frame of mind, and a new team K-Black hopes to take the music industry by storm becoming the next industry mogul. In 2008 K-Black is a force to be reckoned with.
