KD Forrestal

My story began as a child with both parents being professional vocalists. Mom was a soprano with a theatrical style. Dad was a bass/baritone with a Classical style. As a youth, he was offered a scholarship to Julliard, but my grandmother wouldn't let him go. She was a widowed single mother and needed his help. By the time I was 7 years old, my mother had suffered several nervous breakdowns, and my parents were divorced. My dad tried to raise us, but failed. I tried to take on the mother role, but failed. At 13, we we were split and put in foster homes. It was about this time when I was trying out for choir, but did not follow through because of a lack of self esteem and a reaction to the crisis in my life. I did not realize at the time that I had given up a very part of my being. At the age of 42, I resdiscovered my passion for singing and began to take lessons. I have pursued it with all my heart ever since. In the past 2 years I have learned how to write and record songs and play some keyboard. I was married for the second time in 2008 to a singer/songwriter/guitarist. My husband has been in the music business for over 20 years and has his own style and platform. He plays guitar for me and sings some duets and I sing backup on his music. We work around one another's scedueles and support and embrace our differences.
My music is emotional and from experience. It has been called ambient and hypnotic. My goal has been to produce a supernatural feeling that takes one away to another place.
Some of my influences are Sarah Maclachlan, Sinead O'Connor, Pink, Stevie Nicks, Twila Paris and Audrey Assad.
