When musicians mix a slew of different sonic colors together as the basis for their electric projects, the result is often muddy. However, Kef is far from muddy. In fact, the members of Kef mix their colors exceptionally well, which is the sign of true talent and stellar musicianship.
Each element that the large collective of area musicians (seven including the soundman) employs is thrown in tastefully. Piano Breakdowns, catchy guitar lines and solid drumming are a few of the inticate parts that make up Kef. The most noteable playing is bassist James Claiborne, one of the bands two vocalists. Bethlehem's Funky sextet plays the G-spot like none other.
The letters K-e-f spell the name of an electric group of local musicians that rock the Lehigh Valley like nobody else can. Frontman Derek Berger explains, "Kef is slang for any sort of substance used to achieve a state of dreamy tranquility." It's a fitting name, because listening to Kef will not only evoke a feeling of euphoria, but will also probably have you grooving on that fly honey sitting aside of you, depending on how gangsta you really are. - Pulse Weekly

It's refreshing to hear a young band that has digested the best rock music of the past 40 years and put it all together for something new, exciting and all their own. Kef pronounced both keef or kef, does just that, melding well-structured songs within a jam band approach.

Kef is the lone funk, rock band at the music award ceremony, but that's a good thing - we could all use a little Going Back To Philly (one of the groups original tunes) and some Roadhouse Blues (come on, sing along already) to go with all that booze.
