"...mile wide hooks and songwriting strong enough to hold all its influences" - Brent Milano

"Through layers of vintage keyboards and a genre defying approach to songwriting, the Mumbles have created a new sound... sometimes gentle, sometimes brutally energetic, always hypnotic." Steve Wildsmith The Daily Times 2/12/2010 - Wildsmith

" The Mumbles juxtapose succinct and bittersweet songwriting with sloppy dance floor pith. Going over equally well with the crunchy cool kids and the anarchist punks in front of the venue, they played an original set that unfolded like the best of mix tapes."
Adrian Varnham - adrian varnham

"A knack for writing songs that are instantly familiar while being very much their own creations. It's this little knack that makes songwriters into a superstars" Wildy's World Blog - Wildy himself

Combining the bedroom intimacy of a singer-songwriter with the expansive musical prowess of a psych-jazz outfit, The Mumbles are quickly rising through the ranks"

"...Lounge music for the superhip"-Tad Dickens
- Tad Dickens

"Such a rich, full sound for a small band... uniquely vintage, jazzy folk. They sing harmonies, play vintage keys and look like they stepped out of 1971"Alli Marshall from an interview w/ Keith Burnstein 2/18/09 - Mountain Xpress

"...The Mumblers {SIC) from BK took Grind Central by storm last week, and I am a better man for it...."Pianist Keith Burnstein makes his vintage keyboard rig sound like a music box on acid." Matt D'Aprile - Clark University

"Their set at McCarren Pool left us wanting more."-Lisa Curtis - The Brooklyn Papers

Bio

Keith Burnstein (AKA Mr. Mumbles) is a New Orleans based singer/songwriter who pens timeless tunes to live by. He has studied with jazz greats Connie Crothers (Lennie Tristano, Max Roach) and Dick Odgren (Pat Metheny Band), absorbing the rich harmonic palette of jazz , and channeling it to write "Pop songs in the key of partying down" (Time Out New York).

Originally from the NYC area, Burnstein discovered and fell in love with New Orleans while touring with his band, The Mumbles, in late 2009. Although brief, this first trip made enough of an impression on Burnstein that he suggested to his drummer, Ethan Shorter that they pick up camp in Brooklyn and move to the Crescent City. Shorter, skeptical but with his interest piqued, joked with his band mate, "We'll move when the (New Orleans) Saints win the Superbowl"! One Saints Superbowl win later, Burnstein and his band were New Orleans residents. Since that time they have been performing most nights of the week to an ever-increasing following, marinating in that New Orleans sound, and touring relentlessly-- creating and performing from a new type of American songbook, one that will endure because of the "Mile wide hooks" (Offbeat), "Cunning lyrics and musicianship" (Mountain Times), and "Knack for writing songs that are instantly familiar while being very much their own creations" (Wildy's World Blog).

Since the move, Burnstein has toured with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and released two critically acclaimed records (Annunciation St. and Last Night Wore the Crown) both available at all major internet retailers. Currently, Keith is hard at work on his third full length, Syncopatience, due out in 2014. The record promises to be the most eclectic and complete collection of songs he has released in his short history. For more info, please visit www.themumbles.org. The Mumbles' "Muddy Mantras" and "Once EPonymous" are both available on iTunes and at CDbaby.com
