Bio
Keith was raised in middle Tennessee where he learned to play guitar and sing. He had a penchant for poetry and melody which led him to songwriting, but it wasn't until his last year of college that he penned his first song. It was, like most of his music, the product of a regular diet of poetry, history, prophecy, and great music.
His music well reflects what he learned from his many teachers in the art of song craft. Among them, he learned the most from Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Caledonian folksinger Dougie MacLean, who more than anyone else opened to him the world of traditional Scottish ballads - the foundation for much of Keith’s writing.
He made a first record in 2003, "Believe What you Want To" after the irony-laden title track lamenting the demise of empires - both ancient and modern. The record has two basic themes of love and war, and they are neatly interwoven. Standing above the rest are two songs. “The Wrath of God,� a World War II lament, is a masterful display of Keith’s ability to combine both substantive poetry with persuasive melodies. “Summer in the Morning� is a sweet lullaby reminiscent of Sting’s “Fields of Gold.�
After making the record and playing in around the Seattle area, Keith took time off and married his wife, Julianne. On completing his master's degree in divinity, he recorded three new songs for his next record. "She Falls," "Ancient Highway," and "End of the World" are sure to win listeners immediately. Besides their poetic and melodic intrigue, they combine unique instrumentation, excellent production, and Keith’s heartwarming voice.
