BandFolkPop

I'm a songwriter seeking an established publisher to pitch my material. I write in a variety of styles including pop, country, folk and rock.

Biography

I started playing guitar years ago and my early influences were Heart and Fleetwood Mac. For some odd reason, I gave up the dream and stopped playing. About seven years ago, I decided to start again only this time I wrote a song. And I think it was pretty good. I starting writing regularly. It was almost as if I had to wait and go through life long enough to have something to write about. I now have songs that I would love to hear other artists perform, primarily because A) I'm a nervous performer and B) I would love to hear what a strong vocalist could do with them.
I've had enough reasonable folks take a listen and I get a tremendous response on the tunes.

Lyrics

Paradise Road

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

I want to go back and live my life again
I want to play hide and seek with all my neighborhood friends
Don't want to care what the latest rage is
Don't want a phone, a fax or a page
I want to go throw stones in the waterhole down the end of Paradise Road

I want to sit down by the road and sell lemonade
Wave at everyone, feel good at the end of the day
I want to climb up in my treehouse and stare at the evening stars
and go throw stones in the waterhole down the end of Paradise Road

Paradise Road is where I met you
Paradise Road is where we first kissed
and nothing can compare to all this

I want to sit on the front porch and
feel the cool breeze on my face
Take a long nap in the heat of a warm summer day
I want to pick you up when the sun goes down, and head to our favorite place
To go throw stones in the waterhole down the end of Paradise Road

Wind in the Trees

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

Hey there
Can you hear that sound
of the wind in the trees
oh it takes me down
Past the memories
of a time long ago
when my heart was young
and I found my soul

On a dusty road
on a warm summer day
in an old wooden church
where I found my faith
Then I walked outside
let the cold world in
I was told
I could not go back again

So I walked through the fields
and I looked at the sky
I raised my hands
and I asked Him why
The silence fell
I did not hear a word
'cept the wind in the trees
and a call of a bird

So I walked down the road
I could clearly see
there were two paths waiting
there for me
I asked "which one would the answer be?"
I did not hear a sound
'cept the wind in the trees

Some tell me I don't belong
Some decide what is right or wrong
But the wind in the trees blows sure and strong
Until the pain in my heart is finally gone

I walked back down
to the old wooden church
I did not have the strength
to keep on my search
Then I found the answer
inside of me
It was there all along
like the wind in the trees

Today

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

Yesterday
I was feeling better
about the sorry way
things turned out between us
and I hope that you
find some sort of happiness
and if you do
I'll be happy too but not today

Today I'm feeling hurt about
the way you just deserted me
I think about it endlessly
It's fair to say
I could do without today

Later on
I'll be doing fine you know
and you'll have been gone
for a long, long time
and all my friends will say
time can do such wonders
in a hundred million ways
That's just great
but that is not today

Today I cried and cried and I
believed that I would die
it's just another reason why
It's fair to say
I could do without today

Twenty four hours is a lifetime
when you just watch them trickle by
Who gives a damn about tomorrow
when you feel this way inside

Later on
I'll be doing fine you know
and you'll have been gone
for a long, long time
but not today

Today it's been one week without you here
and I'd give any reason to call you up
begging and pleading
It's fair to say
I could do without today

Unbreakable

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

Cut me and I bleed
trip me and I'm falling
I can't meet the need
every time that you call

You think I'm unbreakable
and I'll always be there
You think I'm unbreakable
and so you don't care

Hit me and I bruise
touch me and I'm reeling
you win and I loose
when we play this game

You think I'm unbreakable
and I'll always be there
You think I'm unbreakable
and so you don't care

I am made of bone and flesh
always giving more and getting less

Running in to you

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

I'm walking down your street
I'm hoping that perhaps I'll meet your folks
and maybe they just might
invite me in for lunch
it's just a hunch

I'm over here, you're over there
don't really mind, don't really care
I'm always running in to you

I don't believe in fate
I think that's what they say
to make us all feel better
when things just don't work out
with you I have no doubt
they will
just wait

I'm on a bus, you're on a plane
it's such a pain but I'll do it again
I'm always running in to you

I think we'd get along
so if by chance you hear this song
I hope you'll think of me
cause I'm walking down your street
go look and see

I'm on a bus, you're walking by
you're on a plane, I hate to fly
I'm walking in, you're walking out
isn't that what life's all about
and even if it never quite works out
I'll still be running in to you

One foot out the door

Written By: Kelly Blackwood

I told you before, I'll tell you again
this is one game you're never gonna win
you have so much
you ask for more
don't tempt me babe
cause I got one foot out the door

You're walking on ice
You're walking the line
You never seem to notice it gets thinner all the time
You think you're so cute
but I've seen this before
don't tempt me babe cause I got one foot out the door

One foot in the present,
one foot in the past
just how long you think it's gonna last
the ice is gonna break
you're gonna go down
better think twice if you think I'll stick around

I've seen you at your best
now I've seen you at your worst
You think you're gonna win
hey I got news, I go here first
don't even ask me if I'll even the score
and don't tempt me babe
cause I got one foot out the door
