Bio

Rock music has influenced generations upon generations. Through life’s ups and downs music is that one constant “go to” that never fails to let us down. Throughout my life, music has been my compass. Finding me when lost, healing me when broken. How many things in life can we truly say that about?

The desire to create music has been inside of me since early childhood. Although I never learned to play an instrument, I always had a sixth sense that music was a part of my soul. I believe each and every one of us has dreamed of performing in front of a large audience of family, friends, and fans. My favorite bands always give me hair raising chills whenever I see their live show, still! It’s a feeling I describe as electric, a feeling of being truly alive and connected to something bigger than any one person, place, or thing. For years I dreamed of being a rock musician but like many, chose to bury those dreams and give way to what the majority might call, “a right and proper living”.

During the summer of 2009 after taking a run through one of life’s many briar patches, I began journaling my thoughts in the form of song/poems. In the back of my head shouted a loud voice to simply GO FOR IT! I reached out to one of my good friends, Phil Taylor, who at the time was singing with his band Future Leaders of the World. Phil had recently begun working on a new project with John Lecompt and a few other band mates that had just departed from Evanescence. I told Phil about what I wanted to do and he convinced me to head down to Little Rock and record some songs with him and John. NOTE: Timing is everything!

After a ton of hard work and several months of studio visits around the country a CD was completed. The first CD did fairly well selling a couple thousand copies. Songs like Overrated, Bounce Back, and Fight Song came off that CD and I was very proud to have pulled it off. I spent the course of the next 18 months working closely with my manager and close friend, Troy Luccketta, drummer for the band Tesla. Troy helped me get a band together to play the music live. One of our first shows was opening up for Tesla in California. NOTE: When I used to lie in bed dreaming of playing music I always imagined playing my first show with Tesla in California. I was actually crying in the dressing room before going on stage that night as it was too surreal and overwhelming to believe. I enjoyed playing that record live for a short period before deciding to bring it all home to Ohio and take a big step back.

In 2012, I started putting ideas together for a second record, only this time I wanted to do things a little differently. The first time around, I was so consumed with the reality that it was actually happening that I spent too much time forcing the experience rather than letting it unfold. This time I promised myself I would take my time and do what I thought and felt was the next right thing to do no matter how tempted I was to put the cart before the horse. I again teamed up with John Lecompt and here it is, 2013.

Welcome to Kelly Fierce. Of course my last name is not Fierce! Fierce is a word to describe the journey I am on. Fierce is a word that stands for actively and aggressively going after your dreams despite the odds or obstacles. Fierce in being relentless in not letting others control or define who you are inside and, most of all, detour you from being what you want to be. The music of Kelly Fierce is a direct extension of both John Lecompt and me. When you listen I hope you can close your eyes and feel all the layers and texture of each song. Kelly Fierce hopes to break-away from the traditional mold of the music business. Rather than release an entire CD at once, I want to release new songs throughout the year with an accompanying music video experience that helps bring the song to a new light.

Rise Immortal Rise is the first single and music video to be released under Kelly Fierce. I hope you will take the time to absorb it and share it with all the people in your life that still believe in rock and roll. I want nothing more than to get out there and play live all these new songs, in time that dream may also become reality. Until then, come with me and promise yourself this is the year you will go after one of your closest dreams.
