Ciao indie baby: TO's "new slut on the block" Kelly Johnson can write a pop tune (with help from collaborators Amos Carlen, JC Smith and Chris Hopkins). His debut album, Cupid's Arrow, is sparse but effective. It shows off his songwriting skills. Johnson's voice is breathy and fey (Erasure's Andy Bell comes to mind). His songs have an early Madonna feel; four stand out and could easily be huge hits for other artists. Give Shakira "Journey," BBMak "Mother Teresa," Hilary Duff "Pouring Rain" and boy-not-yet-a-man Aaron Carter "First Move." They would all have the numer one hits they crave and Johnson would have a home in the Hollywood Hills. Available exclusively at Kellyjohnson.ca.
