Bio

The sound of Kelly Thomas and The Fabulous Pickups is currently in an evolution with 11 new songs added to the mix. The new songs have an americana flavor and you can definitely hear country, blues and rock influences. Arrangments are sonically full, yet still have an organic feel. The lyrics are more raw and honest than some of Thomas's past writing. (You can hear 3 demos of the new tunes here; Enough, Hard Winter and Powderkeg). The new album is being tracked June 16-30th at Candyland Studios. Mike Montgomery will be acting as producer and engineer.

The band has been playing in Cincinnati for the past 5 years. The pickups name is not random. It came from the fact that Thomas had a gig booked...her last project had come apart at the seams...and canceling gigs is NEVER an option! According to Thomas's philosophy the only reasonable cause for cancelling are; you're dead or in the hospital. Thomas already knew she liked their playing from hearing them in other bands; John was in Straw Boss and Jeff with G. Burton and The Hyde Park Outrage. CDs were passed out with the set tunes and literally it was a pickup gig. The guys learned the tunes on their own and meet each other for the first time at the band's first show. On stage everyone was on the edge of their seats hoping the wheels wouldn't come off! It turned out great and The Fabulous Pickups been together ever since.

Thomas hopes to do some regional touring this year in support of the new album which will be released in October of 2011.
