The 22-track disc drops today and features six artists who work with Killa Kel's Fly Guyz Entertainment company.

"I feel like this is my best work yet," the University of Louisiana-Monroe sophomore said. "All the music on it represents something that has occurred in my life or something that I can connect with."

Killa Kel spent his summer between semesters working on the project, which he engineered for the first time. "College Preparation Vol. 2" features the most material he has ever released on one album.

"Overall I had a lot of fun with this one," he said. "My biggest hope for this project is that people appreciate it."

This is the second album Killa Kel has released this year, following April's "Real Music 101: Winter Session."

Bonton started rapping under the stage name Killa Kel, but last year dropped the Killa for the more polite -- and efficient -- Kel. Bonton used a High Definition Canon camera he got for Christmas and his Mac Book's iMovie program to shoot and edit the video last month in downtown Alexandria.

The first single from "Sincerely Yours Truly" is "Project X2" -- the bonus track on the album -- and it's getting airtime at KISS 98.7 FM. Other standout tracks include "2 Worlds Apart," a straight hip-hop track with a southern soul twist, and "Lights," a techno-heavy club anthem.

ULM’s own Keldric “Kel” Bonton is releasing his new CD called“CP3” on Sept. 9.
Bonton, a senior mass communication major, got his inspiration for his new CD from different situations he’s gone through as not only a student, but as a man.
Bonton’s love of music began when his father introduced him to music at a young age. Because of this, he grew a strong appreciation for the art.
As a mass communication major, he plans to use his degree to advance his music. He wants to take on every piece of work that goes into this side of entertainment. Bonton said, “I want to be an all around artist, I want to do it all.”
Bonton’s talent doesn’t stop at rapping. He also has an ear for composing, something he hopes to use in conjunction with his own company called Flyy Guy Entertainment. He wants his company to become its own brand, and he’s looking for any and all kinds of genres of music.
“There’s no discrimination of any genre. My focus is really to make good music and make music that makes a difference in people’s lives,” he said.
Some things that mean a great deal to Bonton, are his supporters and God. He said his religion has a profound effect on him, which is why there is no profanity in his music. Bonton said, “It’s really important that I put God over everything.”
He goes on to say, “I have some of the best supporters, and it drives me to work harder. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right. I appreciate all the support from my fans. I love you all.”

Cheers filled Fant Ewing Coliseum Saturday as the crowd screamed for their favorite step team at this year’s annual Greek Step Show.
The event was hosted by former ULM student Damar Jackson, member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Montrell “Beastmode” Marshall, member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
The night was full of live performances not only from the greeks, but also local talent: campus rapper Trey Parker wowed the crowd with his rap skills as well as rapper Kel, who also performed an original song.
Members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council brought their best competing for the title of first place, bragging rights and a cash prize.
Anticipation in the air was thick as this year’s winners, Sigma Gamma Rho sorority and Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, were announced. Despite the outcome each organization seemed happy for each other.
This was the second win in a row for the Sigma Gamma Rho’s, who also won first place at the 1-20 Classic. Sigma Gamma Rho member, Bianca Tyson, expressed her excitement for their win.
“I feel great about winning, It was a lot riding on this. People think that we haven’t been on campus for a while, but we came out and showed out,” Tyson said.
For the first time in years, first place for the men went to the Phi Bet Sigma fraternity.
Many were surprised at this win, but members of the fraternity were proud of their win.

Sincerely Yours, Truly is a composition I can listen to from beginning to end. Kel, an Alexandria, Louisiana native, is quickly growing into his identity as a very strong lyricist. His versatility has expanded even more so in this release. There are more “colors” of him available to the fans and more perspective injected on Sincerely Yours, Truly. The mixtape itself could not be more appropriately titled. Kel dedicates every piece of work to his fans, and shows the utmost gratitude for the support he gets as a positive artist and an advocate of substance. Each track on this mixtape bears a piece of the listener somewhere laced in the verse, which adds to the appeal of the Louisiana rapper.

“Opinions” provides insight to Kel’s private thoughts on the life many rappers ramble about while pretending to be on a grind. This is one motivated artist I can personally say works for each bit of success he sees. No hype here. Kel is on the path to becoming one of hip hop’s resurrectors.

On April 27, ULM’s own hip-hop artist, Keldric Bonton, also known as Kel, released his fifth mixtape entitled “Sincerely Yours Truly.”
As a native of Alexandria, Kel has been pursuing music for six years, gaining much growth and success along the way.
His biggest accomplishment is simply being where he is today as an artist.
Kel said, “I can’t say one thing is bigger than the other because even the small things help bring me where I am now.”
Rejecting to categorize himself under one specific genre, Kel only focuses on trying to make meaningful music, which he says is represented by the songs on his current mixtape.
With both a classic and timeless feel, Kel managed to combine common life experiences into 14 tracks and nearly 40 minutes of greatness.
The title of the album somewhat speaks for itself, delivering an overall sense of love. However, this isn’t just your typical love story.
Influenced by several artists, including Frankie Beverly, Aaliyah, Drake and Kanye West, “Sincerely Yours Truly” has something for everyone.
The song “Could It Be” is filled with love and compassion and appropriately followed by the inspirational song “2nd Wind.”
The dedicated artist even managed to include a bonus track for fans, painting a vivid picture of party life through descriptive lyrics and an up-beat tempo.
Kel ends the mixtape with a powerful outro consisting of instrumentation only.
The outro has a very soothing touch and invites the audience in for yet another listen.
This starving artist continues to deliver great music to his fans and says, “I just want to thank everyone for their support thus far, and this is only the beginning.”

Over the weekend, News Channel 5 caught up with an aspiring rap artist.

18 year old Keldric Bonton of Alexandria, who goes by the stage name “Killa Kel”, has been distributing his new mixtape and performing in the Alexandria Mall this year.

Included in the footage is an interview on Bonton.
