"The Organic Sounds of Kelsy Davis & The Radical Soul"

"Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul is probably the hottest performing stage act in the south. These guys take their sound back to the roots of soul music. This can be seen as soon a s Kelsy makes his entrance... From the very beginning you get the feeling you're watching part entertainer and part backwoods preacher. Kelsy stomps, he flails away from the mic as if preaching hell-fire and damnation, he jerks his head from side-to-side when excited, and he gets down off the pulpit and walks through the congregation; all the while the Radical Soul is fueling his passion with the hottest grooves imaginable. This is a Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul show..."

"Kelsy Davis: Reviving the Soul of Music"

"Much has already been said about the enigma, which is Kelsy Davis. Kelsy Davis is rapidly reviving the soul of music... He lights up the stage with his urban blend of funk-soul and hip-hop. Although difficult to explain and even more difficult to resist, the life altering sound of Kelsy Davis breathes new life into a seemingly forgotten art - The real and raw, live performance. Artists like Kelsy Davis, whom have immersed themselves in the craft from the start are defiantly pioneers at it. There is so much more to the expressive quality of the music, which pours out as the sound from this artist's voice pierces a room. Simply undeniable it is. Kelsy davis is easily one of the great talents of our time."

"Kelsy Davis and Abyss make up - ACID GOSPEL/RADICAL SOUL"

"Kelsy Davis took the stage behind his keyboard. He set the mood with his own brand of Soul Music. Kelsy sings hard; straight from the heart. You can look into his soul when he sings. This dude goes back to the days of Blues and heartfelt crooning. He has a: Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, B.B. King vibe to his music. And the way he flipped Prince's, "Darling Nicky" was close to amazing. He played the keyboard, he sang, he kicked his legs around, and he did his thang!!! Kelsy recently performed on tour in the UK and Amsterdam. Kelsy is Radical Soul..."

"Break The Mold: Kelsy Davis"

"Kelsy Davis & The Radical Soul's Break the Mold is aptly titled because they don't stick to any prescribed genre or prototype for their musical journey. Is it R&B? Yes.. Is it Funk? Yes. Is it Blues? Yes. Is it Rock? Yes. It is all of that and much more. 'Slave to the Rhythm' is a excellent opening to this CD, because it is a raw bluesy introduction to this CD. "I got my rhythm from my daddy, I got my fire from my mom" Kelsy sings with so much emotion you know it is true. You are able to feel this song because he feels the song and gives it to his listener. "Me & My Window" is gentle slow groove about the being a songwriter. Its lyrics are smartly written with lines like "I lay my teardrops down on the window pane". It shows that he is storyteller and not just a singer. "Radical Soul" is like a call to arms with its chant funk rock like chorus. It will have you singing "Can you feel the radical souls?". The answer is yes. "Medicine" is the best joint on the CD. It will have you hitting the repeat button. It has an old soul sound to it. It is like Sam Cooke singing a blues song. It is song about longing and lust. "You know I need it/You know I want it" he sings over a guitar groove. If you enjoy real music. I am talking real live instrumentation. I am talking sanging, not just singing you should get Break the Mold as fast you can."

"Kelsy Davis"

"There have been few times in my life that I can recall being rendered speechless. One of the most recent and most meaningful, however, is entirely attributed to Mr. Kelsy Davis.
Who is he? Kelsy is the best thing that has yet to happen!

Long before I ever witnessed Kelsy Davis perform, a friend warned me about his funk. But you can't tell people who think they know something anything. Me? He couldn't tell me nothing! Oh, I know something about music. Hell, I thought I knew something about Kelsy. I owned his CD and had played it countless times.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, on that CD prepares you for the eyeful that is his live performance.

Funky? It's a word, just not one powerful enough. Kelsy literally morphs into someone or something else right before your eyes."

"It's been a Long Time..."

"It's been a long time...

Last night I saw one of the dopest performances that I've seen in a VERY long time. Kelsy Davis is off the m@#%* CHAIN!!!! If you hear about him ANYWHERE reasonably near your immediate vicinity... you need to RUN there and get a ticket! Kelsy Davis WORKS for every penny you pay. He is all gritty southern boy with that dirty dirty sound... I'm talkin' bout Soul raised in the backwoods of Carolina on fried catfish and okra... he gets out in the audience with you, he screams he hollas, he sweats and stomps... down home juke-joint type sh*t. His rendition of James Brown's classic, "This is a Man's World", Kelsy OWNED that... The Music is freakin Incredible!"

Bio

Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul grew out of a dirt road in backwoods South Carolina. That dirt road led him to Atlanta where he now resides, and to Durham, North Carolina where he perfected his musical craft. His dusty tracks create gritty and soulful harmonies. Hypnosis is a possible side effect. Over funky rhythms, Kelsy Davis delivers an honest message spiced with his unique vocal element. This is how Radical Soul is produced. Do you have Soul? Take a listen, and allow the soul to possess you.

Radical Soul began to surface while Kelsy Davis was earning a degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. There he founded and hosted an event called the Blue Roach held in Duke's quaint little coffee house on the east side of campus. At the time the Blue Roach was Duke's most popular and most well-attended, ongoing event. Many great performers (writers, poets, musicians, etc.) graced the Blue Roach stage, including the likes of Amiri 'Leroi Jones' Baraka, Ntozake Shange, and Jessica Care-Moore. The Blue Roach soon became popular amongst all the area schools, and helped spawn an arts renaissance in the Raleigh-Durham area. The event managed to survive five years, three of which were after Kelsy Davis graduated. The latter three years he acted as a consultant for Blue Roach and several other artist/live music events in the area.

From North Carolina, Kelsy Davis returned to Atlanta where he keeps his musical knives sharpened. On the wings of a Radical Soul, Kelsy Davis has traveled the world. He has spread Radical Soul throughout the United States and has also done tours in the Netherlands and England. Kelsy Davis has performed with musical legend, Gil Scott-Heron. He has also shared stages with Saul Williams, Anthony David, El Grupo Fantasma, Chante Moore, Kenny Latimore, N'Dambi, Kindred the Family Soul, Donnie, Joi, and HBO Def Poets Abyss and Georgia Me. Kelsy Davis was named Atlanta's Best Underground Performing Artist or Group in 2005. He has also graced the covers of magazines such as Unsigned Music Magazine, Downloadz Magazine, and NAL (National Artist League) Magazine. Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul is one to know—Google his name.

Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul has a style and rhythm all his own. His funky sound is made of old gut-bucket blues blended with roots soul music, lightly seasoned with hints of be-bop era jazz and piano-based classic rock-n-roll. It has been said that his music sounds like soulful, angry sex; ecstasy full of love and passion mixed with a bit of angst. With his unique ability to capture feeling and place it upon his listeners in the form of goose-bumps, Kelsy Davis is sure to move you. Who is he? He is soul. He is energy. He is passion. What is he? He is a musical machine, a force, a phenomenon. He is...Kelsy Davis The Radical Soul.
