"Kenan Bell - John Frusciante Jam"

Kenan Bell, who was impressive at his release show back in March but still would be considered a work in progress, has seemingly exploded overnight with a band of familiar faces (Monsters Are Waiting, and on this night Josh Klinghoffer and John Frusciante). Spaceland must have been pleased to see the band draw such a good midnight crowd -- they're scheduled to be the resident band in October. - LA Underground Blog....

When
Wednesday Apr 30 (9pm)

Kenan Bell is a West Coast cat with a cerebral, East Coast edge. The chatter about the self-proclaimed shoegazing hip-hop minimalist is rising due to his keen lyrical knack, as well as his recent remixes of Morrissey's "The Night Has Opened My Eyes" and MGMT's "Weekend Wars." Bell hits the Spaceland stage tonight courtesy of Indie 103.1 and Club NME.

Bio

Kenan Bell (pronounced ken'an) is a refined representation of Los Angeles, CAlifornia.

Born and raised in the suburbs of the city, he has absorbed what it's diverse communities have to offer.

Kenan grew up on affluent, predominately Caucasian neighborhoods and arrived in La Crescenta, where he still resides, as a 7th grader. being one of only four other African Americans at the junior high school, he transformed the adversity into art and created a platform to present his creative lyrics to the public.

Growing up a die hard hip hop fan, with friends who were punk rockers and skaters, Kenan has a keen sense of all peoples true passions. You might say he is well rounded when it comes to the knowledge he has of multiple musical genres, thus he is able to captivate audiences ranging from gang bangers to indie rock fans.

Kenan and longtime friend/producer Jason Burkhart began their friendship in the 7th grade. Whether they were playing sports or creating music together, they were always on the same page , especially when it came to writing and performing. For many years, Kenan and Jason produced hip-hop beats eventually discovering that Kenan was ready to stand out from behind the mixing board and display his talents as an artist.

Blossoming in a town that has produced many talented musicians, Jason reached out to friend/musician/producer Jon Siebels (Eve6 and Monsters Are Waiting). After one studio session, Kenan Jon , and Jason decided that they need to begin working on a record immediately. The threesome realized that they meshed perfectly and began writing and arrainging songs for Kenan's 1st EP "Good Day"/ The Unique sound that has been creared by the trio is genuine and not contrived.

"Good Day" the EP is a four song hip-hop record that attracts listeners of every demographics. His dance rock song "celebrity" features guest vocals from Annalee Ferry (monsters are waiting) and the ethereal "qwerty" features Tom Pritchard (dynamite walls). The four songs take you on a journey through all brands of hip-hop music with a sound foundation based on Kenan's original and intelligent rhymes.

Kenan is eagerly anticipating an exiting 2008, as "Good Day" is only the beginning of his career.
