Biography

Played in various bands and lineups most of my adult life. Including :- Deckchairs Overboard, Big Red Tractor, and most consistently with a variety of line up and musicians in ' Blackfish '. I look directly to my own experience for inspiration, and of course that does include everything I have found pleasure in, and an affinity with , and am pleased to aknowledge the odd moment when I recognise an influence shining through.
Inspiration has allways been found in sincerity, a bold heart, and a willingness to love - and of course, the bells that rang when I heard Tony Joe's ' Poke sallad Annie ' and Beatles' ' come together ' and ' revolution ', and everything on ' Franks Wild Years '

Lyrics

The only one / Like a diamond

Written By: Ken Campbell

I dig the cool of the water
I feel the heat from the sun
I hear the call from a wild wild place
I see you the only one

there is a weight that rides that river
and the moon shine chase the sun
I hear a howl in a beautiful place
I see you the only one

You shine like a diamond
though, you're cut a little rough
just when I think we're flying babe
It gets a little too much

I love the way you move your lips
I love the things you say to me
It's like a call from a wild wild place
I see you the only one

well there is a place, around 3 a.m.
I lay awake to meet you there
there's no one else there in that wild wild place
I see you the only one

you shine like a diamond
though you're cut a little rough
just when I think we're flying babe
It gets a little too much

Love Life / take a ride

Written By: Ken Campbell

Hey pretty girl
in your little black dress
I have all your pictures
found them in my cafe's magazines

your city girl colours
wet city street lights
a tender heart is coming home
it's another saturday night

take a ride
shine
love life

hey sonic soul man
heard you on the radio
talkin' up the downtown
in your frantic audio

sweet sweet lines
call out from another place
a ride to another heartfelt downtown
motel on the vines

take a ride
shine
love life

Kingsgate

Written By: K Campbell

motors running blind by the Kingsgate
firemen in blue are checking out the scene
here a pretty young thing, now a temptress, eyes are pinned she's in a dream
with high heels up to the hilt while her knees are blue with nicotine and cold,
for a little piece of mind work a miracle
and shake the bones she's had to before

some old man with red yellow eyes, bloodied nose, and skin that weeps, crawls along on hands and knees for the brown bag bottle his keeper keeps,
cursed the day that habit bust him from his wife with the silk smooth skin, and his kids and friends who would often boast the way he could put away the gin

make a better life
with a good hard bed, four walls, sweet guitar, maybe a woman on the side
what a life

just down further a fat man waddled 'neath a neon coke sign that filled the night,
he meaned to skim the char barrel for the pickings on this swelling night,
running smack and sex for ten year olds with no where else to call there own
he'll have his want in his pot bellied stove when they bring him back his bone

what a life

so motors running blind by the kingsgate, where life's intoxicated keen
for the hustle and the high life, where shoes are shinin', muscles lean
yes someone bought a bag, just one last time will do the trick,
they found him in the sidewalk, a lethal friend had emptied him

what a life

with a good hard bed, for walls, sweet guitar, maybe a woman on the side
what a life

I'm not stuck on you

Written By: Ken Campbell

I guess that if you could you would
nail me with that seed you planted
hold me high up there for all to see
like some trophy you'ld be glad with
yeah c'mon just another time
lie again my friend
and carry your head and shoulders
high up there among the low life
I guess it must be somethin'
you were born with
I'm not stuck on you

I want you, want you
to be yourself
I could take that, take that
like anyone could take strips from there flesh
yeah I want you, I want you
i want you to be true
try saying it over to yourself
I want to leave you baby
I've found someone else

I guess I'll come round and see you sometime
I think I have his best friends address
the kind of shallow pox souled narcissist
the kind of bastard you'ld be glad with
I hope the solace you derived from me
stops you from kickin' your head over
but you know I don't think I could ever live and breathe inside of your hapless love life
i'm not stuck on you

get down deep

Written By: Ken Campbell

Got me five new coins for a slot machine
goin' to see me some things I've never
seen
got a drivin' in me I've never had before
never had before
goin' to get me some more

goin' to get that boo boo thing
goin' to get back
goin to get that boo boo thing
goin' to get back get back get back
move on move on

goin' to get down honey goin' to get down deep
drink deep from that fountain for a little steam
get on a cool cola goin' to lay one back
and rise myself up open up to the sun

goin' to get me that boo boo thing
goin' to get back
goin' to get me that boo boo thing
goin' to get back get back get back
get back to where I belong

Goin' to head up down, down the boo boo track
got to hit it way over got to bend the back
I got a drivin' in me I've never had before
never had before
got to get me some more

goin' to get me that boo boo thing
etc...

Discography

None to speak of, though I have made the odd independent recording and release - working on it now, after some time spent in some strange and wonderful places.

Set List

Depends on whether or not Sean Wayland's in the band, ( loves his solos ) timed at twelve odd minutes once, glorious minutes at that - unfortunately, he's mostly busy, good for my tunes though, as they usually like to ride quite a bit shorter three to five minutes per.
