KENDRA GRANVILLE

Kendra Granville is an undeniable gifted singer, songwriter and musician. Her distinct voice, soulful vibe and raw original talent will immediately capture your attention. Kendra’s fierce lyrics reveal a rare intelligence and musicality. Her songs, based on real-life situations that both young and old can relate to are addictive-you’ll want to hear them again and again.

Born in Brooklyn New York, this R&B/Hip Hop artist started singing at the tender age of three with her father, a local Reggae musician. Whether he was rehearsing for an up-and-coming show or just entertaining family and friends, Kendra’s father always kept his young daughter involved in music. To this day, Kendra’s father continues to be a major musical influence in her life, along with the other artists who have inspired her, including Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and Morgan Heritage.

At the age of eight, Kendra wrote and recorded her first song, What’s Going On. As time went on, she would sing in school plays, concerts, with her church choir and at large and small local events with her father’s band. But it was a music video class in Jr. High School that really launched Kendra’s passion for becoming a recording artist; once she got the feel of being in front of the camera and entertaining her peers, she never looked back.

In high school, Kendra became one of the most popular names on campus at Bushwick High. She was known for stealing the show every time she performed her original songs on stage, and stayed involved in other aspects of campus entertainment as well, from organizing and hosting various shows, to choreographing routines for dance competitions. During her senior year in high school, Kendra joined an R&B/Hip Hop group who called themselves 718. As the lead singer, she performed at many local venues in the New York area, such as the Nuyourican Café, Club Iguana’s, Café Wha, Bowery Poetry Club, Platinum Lounge, Soul Café and Brooklyn College. The band was always well-received—at the end of every show, the crowd went crazy. When she graduated from high school, Kendra was presented with a “Performing Arts” award. This was the first time a student at her school had ever received this award; in fact, the award was created especially for her.

Now that Kendra is in college, this Diva is taking her singing and writing even more seriously as a solo artist. These days, you will find her in the studio, writing and recording songs for her second CD. Meanwhile, she performs at Music Showcases, Concerts and Open Mics in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and New Brunswick, NJ nightclubs promoting her debut CD “Patience of a Woman”. Kendra Granville is a woman on a mission; this dedicated artist is well on her way to launching a record deal with a major label so that she can share her exceptional musical gift with the world. We suggest keep your eye on her as she breaks into the scene and claims her title as the “Next Big Thing.”
