Bio

Ken Franz has been performing for over 20 years. In that time he's played everything from folk to hard rock. This singer/songwriter has found a comfortable home on stage.

Having roots in the acoustic rock & roll of the 70's such as America and the Eagles, Ken started out playing solo in the "Ground Round" and coffee house circuits of the Milwaukee area. He then became a member of local acoustic trio called "Cool Change". They played folk and 70's music throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. After Cool Change called it quits, Ken found a natural gravitation toward country music. He made a solid name for himself in country music circles in and around Milwaukee. Being lead singer/front-man for 2 regionally favorite bands, "Showdown" and "Midnight Highway", he has entertained thousands with his singing, songwriting, and stage presence. In his stints with those bands Ken had the opportunity to work with over 40 national acts. Showdown, at that time, was sponsored by WMIL FM106 Milwaukee's premier country music radio station. He credits those experiences with helping him grow professionally. " I learned a lot of what to do and what not to do just by studying the acts that we worked with," says Franz.

Citing influences that range from Jim Croce and Dan Fogelberg to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Travis Tritt and Sister Hazel, Ken's songwriting is strong and heartfelt; and can get your feet tapping or tug at your heartstrings. He says, "Living in Nashville for a couple years helped immensely. When you're constantly around people that write songs for a living, it can't help but rub off on you. It's almost like learning through osmosis." Combining his songwriting with a strong stage presence that is genuine and comfortable as family, completes this very entertaining package.

Ken is now taking his years of experience and going back to his roots with a solo career. It's been said that seeing is believing. In Ken's case seeing and hearing is believing. Once you see and hear him perform, you'll find yourself saying, "I believe I'll go and see him again and again."
