Bio

Ken Grant - jazz saxophonist gone Pop R&B singer. If Chick Corea smoked tree from Timbaland, then played a concert with Usher. Ken Grant, 20, is a Pop R&B artist and producer with a background in jazz performance. He began his musical training with classical piano at age four, and then saxophone at age 10. He became immersed in jazz, studying under musicians such as Will Vinson, Andrew Beals, Don Braden, and Jimmy Greene and beginning to perform in the New England area at age 16 where he played gigs from fundraising events to private parties to the Litchfield Jazz Festival. In 2007, Wynton Marsalis awarded Ken an Outstanding Saxophone Soloist Award at the Essentially Ellington Jazz competition in New York City. In 2008, one of Ken Grant's jazz compositions, "Mr. Z," was Awarded Second Place in the Teen Category of the International Songwriting Competition with over 15,000 entries worldwide. "Mr. Z" was also a nominee in the 2007 LA Music Awards.

Ken Grant has been writing music since age 11. He brings his jazz training and influences to today's pop and dance music. A jumping off point was when "Dever Fever," a song about a female colleague on the crew team, became widely popular across the Princeton University campus. Since then, Ken has performed several times around campus.

In July 2010, Ken Grant opened for Chip Tha Ripper and Kid Cudi at Santos Party House in New York. Ken also covers and remixes several popular artists including Drake, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum, and Muse. His remix of "California Gurls" was recently posted to one of the most popular music blogs, Earmilk.com. He is now writing more music as a junior in college.
